Car: 1998 Nissan 240sx 5 speed (swapped), stock VLSD
I've had this weird problem where when i accelerate and decelerate anywhere from 2500-3000 rpms, it makes this whirring (shhh-shhh) sound. And yes i searched it up but i just wanna make sure what the exact problem was, and what you guys think it is.
To sum up everything i did so far:
The car is jacked up rn, took out the diff, took out the guts in the diff, removed axles (doing 5 bolt 180sx conversion and bought a better conditioned vlsd), checked if the bearings on the carrier are damaged which are not, checked if the teeth has any damage but doesn't. So, i'm assuming that the pinion bearings are bad (also searched this up). But my dumbass removed the diff before checking if there's any movement on the yoke that connects to diff, which is why i'm not 100% positive that the pinion bearings are bad. I don't want to take the chance and just drop the new VLSD back in my pumpkin, cause i'd have to drop the whole thing again lol.
So basically, my only lead is that the pinion bearings are bad. I'll try to disconnect it when i get home, since i'm at work. Please feel free to comment what you think is the problem. Thanks!!
