Hi,
I apologize in advance if this is too newb of a question for this forum but I have my flame suit on if it will get me an answer.

I am looking to build an NA motor and have been doing a bit of research and hearing different things. Originally, I wanted to use the Tomei ITB's but was told it is very hard to tune for, and see it is made for the S13 head. However, I was steering towards using an S14 block because A. its newer and B. it has the piston squirters that the S13 lacks.

I was also debating putting a VE head on the S14 block but think it might not be worth the trouble.

However, Im looking mainly to eliminate problems and am not as worried about cost efficiency..afterall, I am not going turbo. Im looking for an NA, built motor, for the street, with torque and low-mid range power.

Im now leaning back towards using the Tomei ITBs. Supposed to be best for an NA motor, and it fits the look I want as this is going in an old Datsun.

So, I have two questions:
1. Will the S13 head fit an S14 block (so I can use the ITBs)?
2. Can piston squirters be installed on an S13 block?

I plan on rebuilding the bottom end with the BC stroker kit so mileage of the engine isnt too much of a concern. I wouldnt mind upgrading the S13 head with BC valve train components to make up for not using the VE head, or S14 with VTC

Thanks for your help

Short answer, yes, both can be done.

The S13 head is bolt on, however, you may want to consider plugging the VTC oil supply port. The VE head will net better NA and FI gains all around, but will cost significantly more.
