Looking at doing a high compression motor in the next year or two to try and get some better response. Anyone have any results on something like this?

I currently run, 2871, poncams ,p&p head and a 1.6mm gasket.

9.5:1 or 10:1 most likely

Use a gtx2867r or the EFR equivalent, a 1.2mm HG, stock cams, job done.

But seriously, if you want throttle response, just swap an LS in it. NA = best throttle response.

Compression, octane, temperature, must be in balance.

If you want a little more compression, you need a little more octane, or a little less temperature. If you have an octane limit, and have trouble regulating temperature, you need to be careful how much compression you run.

Alternative fuels that increase octane or lower temperature (water, methanol, ethanol) help bridge the gaps that your environment falls short in. Turbocharged engines have a tendency to heat soak; the better your cooling from fans, airflow, ducting, the more well designed the pressure differentials under the hood, the better you coat your exhaust, wrap the exhaust, blanket the exhaust, cool the oil, keep an eye on all the temp gauges, the better your engine will resist the temp rise and the less destructive tendency the fuel will have (the higher the temperature the more likely it is to pop like a firecracker as opposed to the gradual burn you desire).

Seriously though, what crousti said, I only run OEM bottom end sr20det engines; once I hit 350-380rwhp, the sr20 is no longer an affordable option. You are better off, cheaper and more reliable, to use a V8 turbo'd for 400-500rwhp with an OEM bottom end.
