Can the Injen CAI that says it is for a the 91-94 240sx fit on a 1990 240sx? What is the difference in the intakes?

Throttle body placement is different for the SOHC and the DOHC.

It *kinda* fits, but not perfectly.

What is not perfect about it?

SOHC 89-90 has a high mount throttle body, where as DOHC 91-94 has a lower mounted throttle body that is angled up.

So what's the problem? They should both sit at relatively the same height ... right (with the SOHC having the DOHC intake curving inward a bit)?

with no cae, the filter would hit the hood. and there's no way the cae would fit at all.

Why would the CAE not fit? But what if I buy an Injen short ram intake? Those drop down. No one is answering the question exactly ...

that's because we don't sit around all day test fitting different intakes on different engines. if you want a sure fit, buy the intake for your engine or fab one.

unless someone on the board has tried it, you naturally won't get a pure response. just opinions based on technical knowledge and guestimating the dimensions of the cai/ram air/whatever.

No one is answering the question exactly ...
Because nobody wants to take the time to explain to you why it only *kinda* fits.
There's a good reason that Injen made an intake for the 91-94 240sx. It's because they wanted it to FIT the '91-94 240sx. That's why there's an Injen that fits 89-90 240sx. Because Injen MADE IT TO FIT 89-90 240sx.
It's not rocket surgery, pal.
The only reason people know it *KINDA* fits is from experimentation and fabrication.
Be grateful to them for sharing their knowledge, don't criticize them for not holding your hand.

it wont fit because the upper pipe would have to be rotated like 45ยบ, causing the cae to aim toward the cabin and hit the fender.

^ Thank you. That is EXACTLY the answer I was looking for.

I searched around and could not find anything except Injen. I found plenty of intakes from other companies for the 91 240sx, and I was wondering if it would have simply been possible to take the intake from another company that was cheaper and just as good and see if it could fit my car. I just didn't feel like paying over $200 for an intake ... that's all.

Chances are, though, that I will custom fab mine ... thanks for the help guys.
