First I have a 98 se non-abs that started life as an auto but has been swapped to a 5 speed with a trans out of a 95.

I busted the trans side u-joint and drop my driveshaft, lucky i was only going 25 mph. I replaced it with a 1 piece aluminum driveshaft from shaftmasters.

My car now makes a loud tick under load. It doesnt do it in neutral, reverse or when the wheels are off the ground. It doesnt seem like anything is hitting it but i will check again.

Is it possible i messed up something in the diff or trans when my driveshaft let go? Any ideas on where to check would be greatly appreciated.

Check your trans as it only happens under load.

Does it happen in any gear?

It does it in all foward gears until i get to speed.

Is there a way to check with out droping the trans?

I noticed that the drive shaft hit the catalytic converter. Could the exhaust be making this noise.

Anything is possible. Fix that first and see if that was the issue.

Sorry forgot to update this.

It was a combination of noises.

Problem 1. The ebrake cable was hitting the new larger diameter driveshaft.
Solution was quick bend and then fixed.

Problem 2. I broke one of the exhaust hangers just ever so barely that i didn't see it.
Solution was grab a six pack peace offering for a buddy with a welder.
