Well, it's official. Civil asset forfeitures went up to $4.5 billion in 2014, while burglaries only accounted for the loss of $3.9 billion.
This is not an indictment of all police or all police forces. This is, however, an indictment of the tragic state of affairs, where Fourth and Fifth Amendment protections go out the window in the name of the "public good."
Suspicion of wrongdoing does not equal wrongdoing until guilt has been proven. Period.
Do some research on the subject, and whatever you do, don't carry a large sum of cash if you're poor, brown or black.
