Hi, I drive a 1991 240sx with 19k miles (bought it with 11k miles). sadly I am looking to sell it but not sure how much to ask for it. I love this car but with the low mileage I think modifying it will ruin it personally. the only thing that is not original is the radio. lived in arizona basically all of its life so no rust.

Pretty damn mint! Can the miles be verified?
Do you have any records that truly state the car has 19k miles? My car has every service record from previous owner that I can see the mileage in the car as the years progressed.
I also have a spare cluster at home that I can set to whatever mileage I want...replacing a cluster is about 10bolts....

Hope it's just the picture quality, but it appears the body line is missing on this section of the car.

Aside from that, I'd definitely get a carfax report on that to back up the mileage.
We can through up figures all day long, but a realistic number would be $5-6k in my opinion.
Someone who is looking to build and collect/preserve an S13 would probably pay more.

Put it on ebay with your reserve for what you'd take and go from there...
Make sure you have documentation over the years to prove the mileage. Carfax may if you've had it regularly serviced and inspected.

Looks like this car was featured on Bring A Trailer a few months ago... I'm assuming you were the buyer? http://bringatrailer.com/2015/07/01/11k-mile-creampuff-1991-nissan-240sx/

I'd pay 6k for it. At the absolute least.
I do know there's a mint red SOHC hatch that was basically just as nice as this one with 30k or something on it and it sold for upwards of 10k iirc.

OHHHHHHH SNAPPPPPPPPPP!!! LOW MILEAGE?!?!?!?!!?
YESSSSS.... that means those seats are still uber-unsupportive! and the brakes still suck donkey dick!!! And the exhaust note, so sweet.
So many better cars you can get. I have no idea why anyone would want that. Its not a Supra Turbo or an FD3S.

lol... just ebay it, there are suckers out there that will pay bank for it, no reason why not to get every penny from if people are willing to pay.. set a high reserve and see where the auction goes and adjust from there..

dont listen to ixfxi, he owns clear corners....which is why he's salty.
OT: in the southeast this would go for 5-6k...however ive seen s14 kouki's bome stock on CL for 7-8 all day with moderate miles.. I think finding a person who wants a clean stock 240 is key and would fetch the bigger stack

It's worth whatever someone will pay.
Mileage to me just means nothing since I wouldn't keep any of the sock power train.
Suspension rubber will rot from Ozone regardless of miles.
Car reminds me just how much I hate the stock aero, wheels and tail lights.

It's missing the black stripe around the entire length of the car, but that can still be ordered new from Nissan and applied easily. Still in great shape, regardless.

Meant the factory lines on the lower rocker where the black stripe sits.
The indentation stamped on the OE sheet metal.
Looking at the link provided by Corbin, it's there.
OP's pictures don't show the body line making it seem like there was a previous repair done poorly.

Yeah that super clean red hatch sold for $10k plus on ebay. It was, honestly, cleaner than this but still, I fully believe this will sell for close that. I wouldn't pay it, but someone will.
Hopefully it won't be the same guy who bought the red one and posted repeatedly on every forum/ social website he could find bragging about his purchase.

Misty Blue Metallic. Don't see that color everyday. I would start at $6500 and go from there. Interested to see closer pics of the possible body damage area, or if its just the lighting. I'd say it would be worth more if it was a coupe since the hatch to coupe ratio is about 3:1.

I remember this from reddit back when you first got it. I would start with what you paid for it because there is always someone like you who is willing to spend that for a rare find

But why else would you buy it if not for the bragging rights?

Its "worth" is relative to how much someone makes. To me anyways. If i were making even 60k a year, i would happily pay upwards of 10k for this car, but that's because i love them. And i would only buy it to baby it, as i would keep it as a collector.
Being as they're all getting trashed and turned in to "drift missiles" they will be gems in the future.

yes the miles can be verified. I have all the paper work done on it since 1991. Also have letters of attorney because the guy who originally owned it his dad died but didn't have any of the cars in his will. And AZ wouldn't let him legally own it without going through this long process
Do you have any records that truly state the car has 19k miles? My car has every service record from previous owner that I can see the mileage in the car as the years progressed.

I wonder what is the longest period of time the car sat unused. Lack of use is abuse.
Great-looking car- and I am certain everything works. But as mentioned above- rubber degrades regardless of mileage- and fluids can attack (from within) if not changed regularly.
The poster here bought it to flip it and make a profit- he will. And if he advertises properly, he'll make a big profit. Lots of older guys out there with deep pockets now- who wanted one new when they were young and had no money.
Me? For $6,000, I'd rather buy a rust-free model for $2,500 with a lot of miles and put $3,500 in upgrades, drive, and enjoy. I'm done with trailer queens....

I never bought it to flip it. There are 2 S-chassis I love and that is the s13 fastback and the s14 kouki. I figured with 240's in my area going for 4-5k with coilovers and 200k miles. Why not spend the money to get a really great condition one. so that is what I did. But I feel as if I will be ruining it with the mileage of the car if I SR swap it and throw coils on it. the longest the car sat with out being driven was 5 years. (according to the nissan tuscon, AZ paper work I have)

It looks like you're trying to flip it because you're gauging the price. I'm not saying you are but by all appearances it seems like it. Totally understandable.
Most guys mark up parts by 100% and no one bats an eye. Someone tries to sell a clean, unmolestes S13 and everyone flips the fuck out.
That being said, I PM'd you already. My wife cleared me to buy a non-SR'd car. If you want to sell it for profit then let me know.

???
My experience is that it generates interest and free advertising, but no one freaks out, if that is what you mean.
OP, do you have a back story to go with it? Owned by a doctor who only drove it on weekends? Owned by a rich kid who went on to a POS 3 series BMW? Dealer's wife owned it? etc....
I asked about how long it sat because of my experience with DSM cars....I saw a mint 1991 Eagle Talon AWD turbo, unmolested, with 9,000 miles on it back in 2012. It sat, not started, for 8 years. For what the new owner went through to get it running properly, it was a tough call if he would do it again. Sensors started going out, engine started leaking because of dried out seals, turbo leaked because of dried up seals, the clutch had a "dry spot" or some sort of unevenness on one spot, and the gas.....the previous owner actually put 90% gas 10% ethanol in there before storing it. Do you know what ethanol does to fuel lines, fuel injectors, etc?
Anyhow, I am amazed at how iconic these cars are- especially in foreign markets. A friend of mine sold his 95 240sx to a guy in Dubai for $12,000- and the buyer probably paid another $4,000 to ship it. This was in 2012.
Documentation! That is the key. If you keep it, sell it, or pass it down to your kid years from now- have the docs.

...by 'freak out' I mean users are more likely to say a price on a stock, clean car is ridiculous but then go pay an obscene amount for some other random part.

Unicorns will always hold their value ridiculously and bring a premium for certain buyers. I'm a member over on s2ki and there's an older s2k that's never been registered before sitting in a show room for at a dealership with ridiculously low miles that they wont budge off 43k for I believe. Had offers north of 35k
