So I was cleaning the garage and I found a brand new, still in a box--APC filter. I didn't buy it, i swear :ughd: . I think my brother bought a long time ago and decided not to use it. I called him and asked, but he said he didn't buy it, he swore too. So what's the APC filter good for? Should I use it on my car?

You could:
Put it on your lawn mower! :rawk:
Use it as a small lamp shade.
Paper weight.
I'm sure theres some other good uses for it

make two holes on the rubber lower part, tie a shoe string on each end, and tie it around your head, with the filter covering your mouth. Market it to asian people as "The SARS filter" and make a bunch of money.

An APC filter? What do you have on your car now? I mean shit a filter's a filter might as well use it if you've got nothing else. Sell it on ebay, use it, give it to a friend, or toss it.

Right now, I have just the stock intake box, but I'm afraid this filter will do more damage if I use it. How good can it filter? Scary thoughts.

^^ best idea ever.
We played hockey with a Ractive filter, I'm sure you could do the same thing to an APC Filter

Yeah while it's true that not all filters are created equal, it's not like it's the sponge type that HKS uses which filters nothing, or the metal mesh that Blitz uses. People still use the HKS filters even though they filter like shit and I haven't hear anything about motor damage from people using them. My guess is that for APC to make it that cheap, they gotta buy that filter element from somewhere that makes them in large quantities, aka supplier for other companies too. Honestly, I don't see how using a no-name filter can be all that bad.

Hmmm, good point. This is what I found when searched freshalloy, "Any conical filter will do, as long as it's a real pleated cotton filter. I think APC filters are pleated paper." If I'm not gonna use it, I'll just burn it to see how fast it burns, never seen an intake on fire before hahah

i have two filters that i use. one is an injen that came with the intake, the other an APC filter that i got from the advance store, both are washed with dish detergent regularly and sprayed with k&n filter oil. i keep one in a zip freezer bag in the garage to put on when i take the dirty one off, so there is no wait, just swap em and clean the dirty one later.... i don't see what the big fuss is. they both work fine. no complains either. i agree APC is lame in my eyes for the ridiculous products they make, but hey, a washable filter is a washable filter ya know
