Are the vents up by the windshield kind of floppy or something? I've noticed in pictures of these hoods that the vents up there are never uniform and kind of lay randomly.

Yes somewhat.

They actually are supported by aluminum sheets bent in a 90* angle. They are made for you to be able to bend them the way you want them to point. So they are not in a fixed position.

After purchasing my first DMAX D1-SPEC vented hood for my S13 240SX Fastback, I was so happy with the product that I wanted to get another DMAX D1-SPEC vented hood for my long term project S13 Fastback, but this time I went all in for a full Carbon Fiber version and the quality was awesome!! I was really blown away, the weave is even and I was unable to find any defects in the gel coat or weave pattern. Extremely fine quality! I CANNOT wait to have some time away from work and life to install this piece... Thanks again FRSport and DMAX-US for bringing in the first one for me ;)

Out of the the two DMAX D1-SPEC vented hoods that I have purchased from DMAX-US/FRSport, the rear most vents (closest to the windshield) were indeed uniform and laid down evenly spaced.. I have an awesome video (I would like to share it here) that shows the flawless spacing and uniformity..

Now I definitely have also seen that issue you mentioned above before, but it was always prevalent to all the replica DMAX-STYLE hoods that I have seen in person and in pictures.. The authentic DMAX D1-SPEC vented hoods do not have this issue, they're solidly mounted and like previously mentioned they can be adjusted if you desire to do so.. I left mine alone, as they were perfect. :) Hope this helps. Thanks!
