Interested in doing a electric fan setup.

I'm wondering why they do all this fancy wiring for it. Couldn't you just wire it to a switched 12v? I read somewhere that it puts an unwanted load constantly on the charging system but they're just fans whats the big deal?

Wire them to where they're always running or you know, buy the $70 fan controller. Why is this an issue?
Seriously, no big deal running the fans all the time, just uses power as stated, its not like they're gonna be running with the key off......
Or fan controller, I have the cool circuit sports one that has like a digital temp gauge that you can read in cab

That's what I am saying why not just run them to a switched 12v so they're always running with the car on? I don't see the big deal

Delays warm up
Forget to leave them on and your battery dies
Potential fire hazard

The warm up thing is understandable I guess.

But if it's switched to the 12v they'd shut off as soon as you turn your car off.

And you could just run a inline fuse with the power wires for preventable fire hazard.

I guess I was just expecting someone to say the fans run better or something with the relays and stuff oh well.

You run a 12v switched relay with a fuse... that is the proper way to wire them on all the time. (key on/fan on)
The best way is to run a fan controller with temp sensor to turn on the fans after warming the car up and turning them off before it is too cool.

for sure, especially if its a daily. If you drove it only on the track, I would say just wire em up.
delayed warm up is kinda a pain in itself, but also increases the amount of carbon buildup in the engine, similarly to if you run your car without a thermostat.
