Hey all,

How important is the AAC valve? Can I get rid of it? I've already gotten rid of all the other smog stuff, was wondering if I could get rid of that too.

Thanks,

In case anyones wondering, it's the thing right on the back of the plenum that has two connectors going to it right over the EGR valve.

Bump just because your project is awsome :rawk:

Speaking as a 'retired' MG restoration specialist I can esspecially appreciate the beauty of Nissan power, and reliability in an Morris Garage Chassis.

Best of luck and......ADD SOME FUCKING PROGRESS PICS !!!

the IACV, i think is what you are talking about (the idle air control valve)

depending on where you live you can remove it without much problem. it often leads to problems with cold starting and somtimes unstable idle.

AAC is part of the IACV...it's the little solenoid on the back that clicks on when you turn on the A/C. You can remove that and still have a working IACV (I think). But having no IACV isn't going to be a good idea. It controls idle all the time...it allows the throttle plate to stay fully closed and meters the air by pulling it around the throttle body. If you take it out, your idle speed will be adjusted just like your old MG...which means that it'll be totally dependent on weather and humidity and temperature and all that.

Go for it! :)

Cool,

I've already got it off, I was thinking about putting a small cable operated valve in it's place to use kinda like a choke for cold weather starts and such, but I'll see how it works before I do that.

Where is the MAFS located on a '90 240? I got an intake off a 90 240 (it fits a million times better under the hood than the pickup intake) but the pickup intake has the MAFS mounted on top of the throttle body, so if I want to use that I'll have to do a little creative plumbing, might be easier to get the 240 sensor.

By the way Ghettokracker, next time I post I'll have pics for you, it's not gonna be pretty though, the car hasn't run since 1987 and I'm not gonna detail the engine compartment till I get all the installation done.

240 sensor is on the end of the intake tube. like where the air filter box is at.
