View Full Version : So what would be leaking here?

Ok so i finally think I fixed my front main seal, as now there are no leaks directly under it anymore which is great, but now I have a small leak on the driver's side of the motor, it seems to be dripping from the idler pulley and then in 3 spots a bit behind it. So there's something still leaking, but my main huge leak is now gone, and this isn't that close to it, so my question is.. what gaskets/seals/lines that could be leaking oil, are on my driver's side of the motor?
thanks for any ideas...
I'll probably just take it in and have it looked at, but just seeing if anyone's got any pointers where I could just save $40, and inspect myself.

What is the leak ? oil, coolant, p/s fluid
P/S fluid ?
Oil creeping out the valve cover gasket area?
Oil getting passed CAS O-ring seal ?

It's leaking oil - and it's on the driver's side of the motor...seems to be around the lower part of it and is dripping off of brake lines due to it just running down the side of them and what not...

Dripping off brake lines? That's not oil son unless it's spraying through the wheelwell. Dripping off P/S lines, that could be oil, coming from the dipstick (at the block) or the oilpan. Double check the P/S lines also, and give the car and good degreasing, makes it easier to find leaks next time.

It's oil for sure...it's some thin lines on the under side of the car...right next to the oil pan. I don't have those fender liners in front so *shrug* it's free to go where it wants.. But alright I'll check it out and if I don't find anything, back to the shop it goes (seems like it's in there every god damn day...:ugh: )

power steering fluid looks just like normal motor oil in my opinion, i would check ur lines...other then that since i think you have a ka i would have to go out and look at my motor. if its an sr, check ur turbo feed line. if its on the side i cant think of anything other then the oil pan that it could be if its actually motor oil. is this a fast leak that you can see leaking considerably as the motor is running, or is it high rpms or is it a slow leak that a few drips make a puddle after a few days...?

ps fluid is brake fluid.
Maybe in your car. P/S fluid should be straight ATF, that's what Nissan recommends.

If you read your manual it tells you specifcally what to use. Like mentiond you should use ATF fluid.
