So I'm changing my headgasket to prep for more boost. I had the head sent off and resurfaced. My block I can not figure out how to clean it. It is still in the car or I would have it machined as well. I have a cosworth headgasket to go on once i figure this out.

I've seen
razor blades (I'm iffy about it)
roloc (general concious says no)
roloc bristle disc (bought a white one and it left small haze marks on intake manifold)
scotchbrites (again no)
and a long board with sandpaper

I'm leaning towards the bristle disc I just wanted to see if there was any other way I'm missing. I also found out that the bristle disc leaves a ra of about 52 on an air tool. I could not find anything about using on a drill which is what i plan to do.
I also plan to copper coat my cosworth gasket. I would call and ask them but their number listed wont dial anything.

Brake clean
Razor blade
Red(fine) scotch brite. You aren't surfacing the head so the more aggressive (air tools) stuff you use the more likely you are to create an uneven surface.
Plus if the deck is warped anyway it's all just piss in the wind

Deck is fine right now. I have all the old gasket off but I need to get it all the way clean which is where I currently stand. I have yet to try brake cleaner but I will give it a go with more razer blades.

I got my block to this point. Razer blade is now going insanely slow and I'm scared I'll scratch it. Is it time to use the scotch brite pad?

Looks like the block has already been resurfaced previously.

Scotch pad by hand. Should be ok

"should be ok" thats reassuring lol. I'll get on that tomorrow and get updates regardless.

Scotch bright by hand, and brake clean. Do long strokes on whatever it is you are cleaning, don't focus in one spot or you run the risk of creating a low spot.

Update!

Here you can see the very light scratches. Can't feel them and can barely see them.

I took a straight edge to it and its perfectly flat. The splotchy spots are brake cleaner slowly drying.
Think I'm good to go?

You're fine. Also, you don't need to copper coat a cosworth gasket.

From what I've read it never hurts. so I figured why not.

The very final step involves the same items as the first step: a razor blade, paper towel, and brake clean to ensure a clean, oil free surface

looks good to me, I can't wait to do mine. The brakecleaner/towel/razorblade trick works almost everywhere, valve cover to oil pan, on just about every engine.
