That hood is Masa Motorsports. I assume you got the picture from an article Joey Lee did on some event in Japan. He stated that is has a full 326 kit with hood. 326 has never made a hood.

While on the subject, my DMAX hood somehow fit a lot better than my Koguchi Power hood did out of the box. I found that to be a bit surprising. I have heard a lot of the newer DMAX hoods don't fit very well though.

They are Cusco hood pins. I had the metal circle portion painted body color. I still use the OEM latch with them as I don't really trust them, but they look the part. I just got them because they are the ones Koguchi had on his black car, lol.

Besides the origin cowl style, is the a reduction in clearance with these aftermarket hoods?

Yeah there is for dmax type hoods. You either have to notch the vent(s), lower the engine with different mounts or raise the back with spacers. Both SR and KA have this issue.

anybody have a stock hood with vents made into it? something somewhat subtle. I'm trying to think of a good way to get some heat out. not a fan of hood spacers. don't really want an aftermarket hood since the body is stock kouki.

With my d max hood and a clutch fan, heat just bellows out the vents.

Anyone have advice on seating my dmax hood properly?? I have to force it down hard for it to latch. Took off the strut bar and i still gotta shut it hard. Did hood spacers, still the same thing.

Have you tried adjusting the height of the latch mechanism? Not sure if you're still using it or not but sometimes that makes all the difference in the world.

^^ Hhhmmmmm I have not done that. I'll try that out

That may help- the holes that bolt the latch to the core support are slotted to allow you to move the height up and down a bit. You could probably even slot them more if you need more adjustment. Might not solve the issue but may be worth a try! Hope it works.

Besides the origin cowl style, is the a reduction in clearance with these aftermarket hoods?

Looking at an Msport for a zenki s14 in the future

I'm currently running a cf msport hood on my zenki. With an sr, I just altered one of my intercooler pipe sections, by a quarter inch. No clearance issues.

I'm also running drift freaq engine mounts, and electric fans with their own shroud so no giant stock shroud if that helps.

I had to cut and end off my strut tower bar, flatten it some then have it re-welded.

With OEM motor mounts, an STB and the DMAX hood there is literally no room for anything else in there, business card clearance. If I had an S14 SR I'd be fucked.

I'd agree that cowl is more for getting air into the bay, prolly why it's big on carb/itb engines. Vents should be better at extraction

Got my hood to close finally. Had to trim some decent pieces out of the bottom to clear the VQHR intake plenum and both intake tubes. :( Definitely was painful cutting into this thing. Went ahead and installed some new period correct Sparco hood pins too.

All y’all running vented on a S14 - what companies are still offering spot on figment? Looking at getting something with all these Trump Bucks but haven’t really landed on anything yet. Considering either DMAX or BN but open.

BN will fit nice... Origin isn't terrible... DMAX is hit/miss to be honest.

I just got a shift sports FRP through streeter. Figment isn?t great. It?s ok. I still need to try and make some fender adjustments though.

I ended up ordering a BN Sports Type II. I’ll check back in 2 years when it shows up on fitment.

BN is a lot more popular than I expected. Those lines are perfect. I haven't seen too many of these stateside. Maybe URAS?

This has made me thoroughly happy. Not every day I buy something I haven't seen [my area is littered with the rivet on vents or Origin Labo stuff] so it was a little nerve racking. That fitment looks pretty spot on as I figured with BN.

anyone know if the seibon ta hood for the s14 kouki will fit with a 2jz ? I'm 2jz swapped with a clutch fan and want to make sure it fits. Another option is the origin type 2 hood but don't know if that style actually works for keeping the car cooler and getting the hot air out.

All I can tell you is I have the TR style and it had a 2ZJ in it with a top mounted turbo and it fit. The turbo heat faded the clear coat which is why my hood is sprayed black now.

As for the other one, I have no idea.

The Origin hood would most likely clear but I don't think those vents at the top do as much cooling as the ones in the middle above the clutch fan shrouds.

My BN Sports type II. Installed right out the box, but def needs a little fitting. Pretty spot on though. Bumper is sagging a bit also.

Ok cool, thank you for the info bro. I?m really leaning towards the seibon hood. I need to cool this 2jz down when sitting in traffic with my ac on.
