alright guys so my brakes dont work, got new brakes, found some calipers at a junkyard so i threw those on, but whenever i turn the car on and pump the brakes car loses idle and wants to stall, can this be a bad booster? or a leak in one of the lines? oh and btw ive bleeded the damn car at least 10 times all around and my brakes just slam to the floor evurteim :-/

Yeah your vtec on your MBC is bad. You need to change the mivec cylinder and bleed the ivtec on the booster..also don't forget to change the filter in the break resovor..

Hey man next time start off with more info about the situation. What year is your car? What car did you pull the brakes from? Obviously check for leaking around BMC and calipers.

Stalling sounds like a vacuum leak. Check all your vacuum hoses for damage.

91 s13... You're right man my fault, I bought new brake pads, but I pulled the calipers off an 89 240. Also I haven't seen any leaks anywhere

did you the put the calipers on upside down? im not kidding either, this is a very common mistake.

are the bleeder nipples facing up toward the fender well or toward the ground?

also, just a word of advice seeing that youre a newbie. if you dont want to catch so much hell from other members, please use proper grammar. i understand you are 17, however, taking the time to type things out correctly attracts fewer trolls to your threads. ive changed the thread titles spelling so it garners less negative attention.

Sounds like the master cylinder is bad too.

Thank you man... Calipers aren't upside down and the bleeders are facing up.

I actually thought the same thing so I bought one, put some dot 3 fluid, bled the brakes and still didn't work

You changed all four calipers? Is all the brake hardware there? Shims clips etc. Did you try bleeding with the engine running?

No just the rear passenger... When I changed the brake pads caliper wasn't closing in so I figured I needed another one, yeah all the hardware is there, and I've also tried bleeding with the car on, after two or three brake pumps it stiffens up a bit but then goes back to not working

I was looking around and I seen that if I removed the vac line that connects to the booster, turned my car on and if it didn't stall after I depress the brakes then it's a bad booster, I just tried doing this and it didn't stall on me so I'm guessing it's the booster lol

Strange but could be the booster. Go grab the booster off the same 240 you got the calipers from lol.

that would make the pedal VERY firm. but your brakes will still work

You might have another caliper that is sticking or bad.

Lmao I did the the booster off of that 240 but idk if it will work or fit cause it's a thin one and the one I have is thick

Yeah when I unplugged the vac line my brakes got really really stiff! Plugged it again and they were ass

boosters are interchangeable...there were different ones for auto vs manual

So I just installed the booster from the 89 240, and brakes still are not working... While bleeding the car it almost stalled a couple times, any suggestions on what else might be wrong

Brakes are stiff when the car is off then once the car is on they go all the way to the ground

did you bleed the brakes starting from the passenger rear to the driver rear to the passenger front to the driver front?

also, when you bled them, did you have someone helping you? did you submerge the hose you were using into a bottle with liquid at the bottom so the outlet of the hose was completely in liquid? did you take the hose off before or after you tightened the bleeder nipple down?

did you install a brand new master cylinder? if so, did you bench bleed it fully and properly before installing it in the car?

are you losing brake fluid at all when the pedal hits the floor? are you sure youve tightened down the brake lines completely at the calipers (and the master cylinder if you changed it)?

Your brake booster vacuum check valve may be bad/missing/installed backwards.
