Ok so I have my 1990 180sx with a CA18DET. It has a sr20 ecu,HKS cams,Fmic,Greddy FV BOV,Splitfire coil packs, Z32 Maf. I replaced any vacuum lines that I could get to along with new intercooler couplings. What its doing is running pretty choppy at idle and when I take off it will sound like its has a miss but it will also pop and backfire until about 4000 rpms then it runs like a bat out of hell. Here is where I am totally confused. At idle warmed up I put the timing light on it and according to the timing marks I'm about 35 to 40 degrees advanced. The light blinks and the timing marks are well past the pointer. I try to retard the timing with the cas and the car runs even worst and shuts down. I advance the timing with the cas and the car runs better but the timing marks get further away. I just put a new Nissan Pulsar TPS on thinking that may be causing my acceleration issue but it did not make it better. I unplug the MAF and it still idles rough. Unplug the O2 and it runs light shit. I by passed the knock sensor with the resister trick. Could the timing belt be causing a problem like this? I'm Kinda out of ideas.

Well I changed the timing belt. Still the same. It sounds like it has a wicked lope while its idling. I has hks cams but I'm not sure what size and if it would be causing the it to lope like it is. Smells like its running rich and on my Greddy oled its showing about -6 on the vacuum. The plugs did smell like gas. Its not the coil packs because I just put the split fires in. Ignitor maybe? But that doesn't explain why the timing marks are so far off on the balancer.
