Hi all,

I'm building an sr20 for my 280zx, it's being built by touge facotry. I supplied the parts and they assembled the block. So it has 1mm over wiseco pistons and manley rods, arp head and main studs. Head is getting a tomei solid lifter kit with 264 cams. Turbo is a lightly used GT2871r with some ebay mani. and I'm using a freddy intake.

The intention of this build was to build it for 91 pump gas, since it's readily available, but since I'm in Iowa (read: corn heaven) e85 is literally at every other gas station, so I'm going to be using e85. The only thing I do have in regards to fueling are an aermotive FPR and a walboro 255 pump.

I want to know what size fuel injectors I should run. I was thinking 1000's, but I wa told that the pump might even be too small. I know this question depends on the amount of boost I'll be running also (12-15psi).

So, what size injectors, and is my walboro 255 pump large enough?

the build doesn't make any sense. That turbo can be maxed on stock springs with hydraulic lifters. Solid lifters are a maintenance hassle and only recommended for sr20 engines in excess of 500 horsepower.

thats a really tiny turbo for a mostly stock engine. using it on a forged internal sr20det is just plain silly.

And good lord, an ebay manifold? Manley rods and an ebay manifold? You have bigger problems.

you also fail to mention what fuel you are planning to use. First you said 91 then ethanol, which is it? or both?

With that turbo you will never need to run 1000's or a bigger pump imo. That turbo is small for a fully built motor with plans of running E85. What power numbers are looking to make in the end (I assume you will be changing turbo eventually) Your injector and fuel pump size depend on a lot more than just what boost you plan to run. Not to mention same boost levels from different turbos will be a dramatic change. You have to think about what size fuel lines you will be running, power goals, and also don't want to overkill your fuel system. Too big of injectors and pump can just be a complete waste.

Manifold came with the turbo its a reinforced turbo xs. Isn't a full race but meh. and going with e85, but will most likely do a dual map so I can do road trips. Was originally building for 350hp, with e85 I'd like 400. any more than that will probably break the tranny, diff or axles.

Going to be controlled with an AEM ems.

And no a stock 280zx pump wouldn't pump nearly enough. hardly kept up with an l28et at 10psi.

Those numbers are very conservative for a turbo that's capable of 400 on regular pump. 450whp would be achievable with that turbo on E85. Turn the wick up and let her eat, especially if everything has been fortified.

If you're sticking with the factory trans, over 300whp will kill the transmission. I highly doubt the rearend will have issues with the power. Generally speaking it's trq that destroys things not HP. I'm sure that L28T made gobs more trq than an SR will.

I think you need a top mount GT35r or something similar. Some 1000cc injectors? Sure thing, with an AEM EMS v.2 on E85, twin in-tank pumps around 340lph I believe... some medium size camshafts and off you go.

You wont break the transmission if you drive it carefully. No drag strip launches on sticky tires, use a high quality Ogura racing clutch, an OEM driveshaft and an OEM VLSD or similar.

To my knowledge the Walbro 255 isn't E85 compatible is it?

This is news to me:.. I been running my walbro with e85 for a couple years. Now issues.
