Three guys.. one guy with a jack and two guys underneath the car benchpressing the tranny in.
Flex those little girlie arms..

the trans has to be 180 degrees, so pretty much upside down, then when its stabbed turn it 180 back. and it would help to have the clutch disk aligned :)

yea i got the clutch aligned and all... so it is necessary to turn the tranny 90-180* to get it in?
guess i will try it tomorrow..

double check you have the disc in right... if its off even a little, it will make the tranny not lineup

ok... im not calling you dumb in anyway... so dont take this personal... this is just from my personal experience... but when i did my clutch install it was a bitch to get on... but all i did was put the gears into neutral and it slid right in no problem whatsoever... if you havent done it it wouldnt hurt to try.

Use a jack and tilt the front of the engine up. Put a small block of wood on the jack, lift where the crank pulley is. Don't lift it too much but just enough. The bellhousing of the sr tranny is just too wide. I've had a clip at the shop where you can see evidence of people going nuts with a hammer trying to get the tunnel wider. That same clip had a tranny with the edges of the bellhousing grinded down.

or do it all by yourself like i did :D
turn the top of the tranny to the left, (drivers side) i believe theres a lil more clearance. j/k about doing it by yourself. i did mine about a month ago (by myself) and its a

removing and reinstalling the tranny is super easy, my grandpa and i took out the tranny, did a clutch, tore the tranny down, put it back together, and put it back in the car in about 8-9 hours

for someone who never done this before, get an expert to help you or just go to the shop to do this. 300 bucks for labor is not that bad comparing to the work you going to do yourself and the mess you going to make, blah blah...

it SHOULD be a 1day job, but if your transmission is deciding to be a bitch that day... maybe two, it only takes a couple hours to take all out... most of it is just annoying stuff, i hate taking the shifter out and all the panels revealing it.... but anyway its possible to do it in a few hours..

thanks for the input... definitely need to get this done before winter. two seals, clutch, pressure plate, bearings and flywheel... blargh
ghost i want to do it myself b/c i prefer doing all the work on the car myself... its more about the learning process then the money. if i get stuck though i might tow it to a shop and have them finish. :P
