*rant* Ever heard of anybody hitting a power line? I did. I was cruising in my S13 on a two lane road (one lane each direction of course) going about 50mph. The speed limit is 45 FYI. Its raining but still bright enough to see outsite, but the state law is if you have your windsheild wipers on you have your lights on. I see this power line accross the road, but its only about two feet from me,I have time to slam on the brakes and slow down but it snagged my pop up. When I pulled over it was propped up against my fender, lol. I managed to put it back down, but the painted light cover is fucked up prolly beyond repair, and the light assy. is all crooked and sitting fucked up. The motor arm that actually lifts it is fucked too. I'll post pics later:(

Sorry for the long thread.

And yeah, and this happened on my way out to celebrate my 18th birthday:w00t:

EDIT:For all your lurking flamers out there;shoot your best. My only choices to try to aviod the line was to (a) stop and somehow move it out the way? But I already said I tried stopping,so thats an impossibility...or (b) swerve;to my left was TONS of oncoming traffic,to my right was a HUGE ass ditch,no shoulder, and trees.

file a claim with the power company. you MIGHT get reimbursement for it.

you have to get reimbursed. you might be able to go through the town and they hit up the power company. that sucks man! happy birthday and your present is that that wasnt a wire that got cut or spliced in the impact and sent 95498769487946794574958749587459867 watts of energy through your car frying everything electric.

You should have waited for the PO-PO....the power company's gonna tell you, "No Report, NO Claim!!". Hope you had an independant witness.
Lotsa luck with the claim...

So if the powerline was dangling like a clothesline across the road...wouldn't the "tons" of other cars heading the other way hit it? Or did the line just fall as soon as you were about to pass?
