Sr20det rebuild or new block?

I made a post earlier about doing a home rebuild vs sending it into a place to get it done.

Now after more research I'm wondering if it is just cheaper and more efficient to just swap in a new sr20det?

I found a nice redtop long block for $1600 supposedly it has under 32k on it

So do you guys think it'd be cheaper to just swap in a new block and sell the spare parts or is it a better idea to just rebuild mine?

I'm only shooting for around 350 whp in the end so i'm not sure if it need to strengthen the bottom end much besides head gasket and ARP hardware.

Parting out is always an iffy proposition. Are you going to rebuild top and bottom? Rebuilding the bottom is about $1100 with parts. Top end about that much if not a bit more and assembly. So you would probably be out $3k for a built top and bottom engine.

But it has 0 miles. If you just plan on just dding and not much track time, then do the swap.

If you are thinking about tracking like every other month, then rebuild.

If I was going to do the rebuild I was planning on going with OEM internals with ARP hardware for the bottom end. MLS headgasket etc

Same for the top all oem except maybe JWT s3 cams

Yeah every month is quite a bit, if oyu are going to beat the car... so I dunno, I would go at least with a built head cause its cheaper.

stock bottom end just get some good rod bearings.
