alright so the past couple of months or so my car has been randomly overheating. the first time was when i was on my way home from work driving on the freeway around 75mph i look at my gauge and i noticed my temp gauge was climbing. i pulled over, turned it off and waited for it to go back to normal temp. once it did, i drove it home with no problems.
another time was about 2 weeks later when i was at a carls jr. in the drive thru waiting for my food. i looked at my gauges and the temp was climbing fast so i turned it off and once it went back to normal temps i drove home with no problems again.
the car overheated again a couple times on my way home but when ever it overheated it was always a couple weeks apart.
ive been taking it to my mechanic and he says he cant figure out what it is cause when ever i take it to him it runs fine. he has replaced the thermo and checked the water pump. the car shows no sign of blown head gasket (milky oil, white smoke, losing coolant)
recently the car has been overheating quicker once i start to drive it around for about 30min.
my mechanic says that maybe my stock fan isn't strong enough. but i dont think it is because wouldn't it be overheating all the time instead of weeks apart?
today i was driving it for 15min maybe and it started overheating and the top hose was hot and had so much pressure that coolant started leaking from the opening where it connects to the rad.
i took it to my mechanic and he suggested i run without a thermostat for a couple of days to see how it goes.
if i do this will the gauge still be able to tell me if my car overheats?
my dad has been going to this mechanic since his first car and ive been doing the same. this is the first time ive ever taken him a car where he didnt fix the problem the first time. is it possible that hes not bleeding it right?
im convinced that my ex-gf put a curse on my car and makes it overheat once i start to get comfortable and start having fun in it.
im running a mishimoto rad with stock fan on a stock ka24de if that helps.
please leave all possible suggestions that might fix my problem cause im getting really stressed out about this.
