heres the story.... a friend of mine has a a s13 coupe and he is going to race against one of his friends who has a S14 highly modded (and beautiful) http://www.jdmsupercars.com/zerothread?id=38

the S13 has

CA18det
-custom V mount intercooler
-RSR exmag cat back
-HKS 3" downpipe
-SS autochrome elbow pipe
-SS autochrome manifold
-tokico blue HP shocks
-Whiteline springs
-Q45 brakes
-VLSD
-Reinforced body
-6 point roll cage

and possibly T28 turbo upgrade comming soon

now it is obvious Dans S14.5 is better....but the S13 is choosing the road and is gonna practice alot on it before the race......

the whole race is a bet.....if the S13 wins then the S14.5 has to join the S13's team...(or at least wear the team logo)

its not a macho grudge match or anything just a fun bet....

me and the driver of the S13 are brainstorming on what stradegy to use, etc.

any advice would be appreciated....

the car really dosnt matter (as long as it has alittle suspension modds, it helps), its all about the driver, Ive seen guys that beat sr240's, mr2 turbos etc, and they drive stock corollas, but are good drivers just try to be careful :x:

If both drivers are of equal skill. The s14 will win . The guy in the s13 pretty much has to drive his ass off to win, which may not be worth it. If you go practice a road to race it, you're pretty much planning to drive over your head which is not only dangerous, but could be slowing you down. You may actually go faster by not caring about the race and driving as smooth as possible. When people officially race, things can get ugly. Advise both drivers to wear helmets and do it at a time and a place where they cant hurt other people.

Besides, if on a mountain I doubt the S14 would go all out, it seems more like a "fast" show car. C'mon if the car was really prepped for "racing" why would he list the exterior mods first then the engine/suspension? Maybe you should include that with your stradegy No Motiv.

err anyway, if your going to make a show car, get a honda or something. Leave the RWD cars and the turbo charged engines to someone who's acttually going to use it for racing(circuit, auto x, touge, etc), that annoys me when people fix up a car for show just cause that make/model is popular "currenty". Phuck rice, and phuck show, I'll be at blood mountain or dragon's tail. Lets see you do some "racing" by being parked all day at a car show.

That S14.5 isn't only for show. He's done all those that you mentioned. He also has some sponsorships on his exterior mods, etc and his engine works have been all done by a friend of his. Therefore, putting other mods before the engine mods seem reasonable. Not that it make any difference putting one infront of another.

And what's all this about "show car" and "honda"?? GA and MD isn't that far away. Why don't you drive up and see for yourselves? How is your car btw?

my car is mostly suspension modded, still saving up for my engine swap. MD, huh, are there any Mtn passes in your area or you know of? Or a huge skid pad that can be rented and some cones, I would be more then happy to drive up and gather more people so we could all do some gymkana and have a hell of a day. But like you said, "HE HAS SPONSERSHIPS ON EXTERIOR..." Thats all good for replacing parts if he wrecks it, but why not sponserships on skills for auto x, drift, etc. etc. or whatever he has done? Unless he has then I stand corrected.

And the main reason to list exterior mods first is for people to notice it first. Think about it, for exe. a off road track only race car blah blah would always have its engine spec (size, internal & external parts, etc etc) parts listed first. That way you can know what class the car runs in, (look at the displacement, etc) and/or know what power it can generate and such. So in my set of mind type, I see that the 14.5 is more of a show car/ display car/ looks first performance second car. And that is from the posts of other people on that forum that has his pics hosted, claiming that they see the owners car "..at alot of car shows" If there were pics of the car actually doing all that I stated then I'll be happily edit my reply and take back my own words. But I see none and there is no evedince of what you claim, but your words. If he or anyone has a vid-clip of him doing auto x, touge, etc I'd love to see it and see his driving skills, but untill then I'm calling it how I see it from the info of what everyone has posted so far.

I think your "ultimate touge strategy SIMULATION XY" should be to get really good at launching. I doubt anyone is going to have the balls to pass eachother after the start (especially the S14 guy, he probably doesn't want to risk losing his sponsorships/bang up his show car or whatever). Then just keep a decent line to block the car in the back, and voila...you win.

the way your post sounded it seems you have never done a touge run before in that case please don't. It will be cheaper in the long run if you just rent a road course. Mountians are very rough places as i learned while waiting 5 hours in the arizona desert with no water for my friend to bring his truck to pull my s14 out of the mountian it was embeded in. The mountian is so much different than a track or an auto cross if you screw up your car WILL be damaged and you have a good chance of getting hurt too.
