...and it only took about 2 years to find it. I picked up a 98 SE yesterday with 55,000 miles for a pretty good deal, I think. My last car was a 1984 Jeep Wagoneer with 166,000 miles and about as much rust on the body as paint, so I'd say this is a pretty healthy step up. I had to compromise on the 240 because it's an auto ... but I figure I'll start gathering the parts for a 5 speed swap sometime down the road. For now I've just been enjoying the car and am glad to be able to be able to relate to this forum instead of just lurking daily.
Anyway, I drove the car about 180 miles after I picked it up, and the SES light came on. Put the OBDII scanner on it, codes 0440 and 1448 came up ... all EVAP system stuff, I'm checked the book and said there's a leak. I cleared the codes anyway, engine has been running fine with no problems since I've had the car, and tonight (about 60 miles later) the light came back on. I've searched and EVAP stuff seems to be somewhat common with S14s, but there hasn't been any definite answers for fixes. Since it's happened twice I figure it's not a fluke ... anyone have any insight to this at all? Any help is appreciated.
