View Full Version : Electrical problems (dash fuse block?)

Greetings everyone,

I recently purchased a 1993 240sx with a notch top SR20DET swap that I intend to use as a track car (for fun).

It has some electrical problems though.

-Wipers don't work
-Flashers don't work
-Pop up lights won't go down (but do go up)
-Power windows don't work
-Power mirrors don't work
-Fuel gauge doesn't work (found oxidation at the connector on the printed circuit at the back of the cluster)
-Brake lights don't work (hatch harness is missing)

The battery is relocated to the trunk with the ground attached to a rear strut top nut. I also noticed that when I touch the dash fuse box with my foot the tach needle flickers.

I checked all the fuse and they are all good. However, a lot of them seemed to have oxidation and they wouldn't go smoothly in and out of the slots. I think salt and other grime made its way in the unprotected box. Also, There was a blue relay and black round circuit breaker on another plastic piece attached to the fuse block. I removed them but lost pins on both in the process. They were heavily oxidized. I believe there is supposed to be at least another brown relay but it's missing.

Sorry I didn't take a better picture but this is what I have for now:

The green wire you see was actually put by the PO to bypass everything and make the driver's side window work again.

Can someone confirm that this is what it should look like?

Now here's my real question. My plan is to go to the local pick&pull that is known to have late 90s early 2000s Sentra's and Altima's to grab the dash fuse/relay box along with another couple of connectors.

Do you guys think that I could find the same relays/circuit breakers w/ connectors on those or at least equivalent? Any other good options?

I'll also try to clean up the connection in the fuse box with a small file.

For the record. I believe I found what I need under the dash of that 99 Altima. Behind the fuse box there was a similar layout of blue relay, black circuit breaker, black circuit breaker, brown relay. I grabbed all of them along with a couple more connectors. All that for free according to the cute girl at the counter. :naughty:

I'll update this thread once when I'll have them wired up.
