We're planing to build a car for the endurance race (maybe replica of RS*R). So i would like to hear some + and - on the both S13 or S14, wich is better and why.
Planing to have about 300 - 400 hp from SR, with the wight of 950 - 1050kg.
Thanks a lot.

S14...stiffer chassis to begin with, and it looks better..hehe.

If you want to float like a boat, then get a s14. If you want to win the race, get an s13.

S14 longer wheelbase, shorter length, more of a GT car over an S13

Snail: ...huh?

S13 is marginally lighter, but that's because it's less stiff.

Otherwise, they perform about the same.

So start with the chassis that's stiffer to begin with. Everthing else will be changed for an enduro car, so...start with the best platform possible.

when you guys talk about the s13 being less stiff, are you automatically considering the hatchback? Because my understanding is that the coupe is substantionally stiffer than the hatchback and weighs only a little more.

No...both.

Nissna made a lot of small changes on the S14 to stiffen the chassis, to reduce NVH.

Compare S13 coupe to S14 coupe...S14 is still more stiff...albeit heavier.

I am just phucking with people. But my friend that went from s14 to s13 coupe did say the s13 was alot better at handling. I have no idea though. I have never driven a s14, I own a s13. they are both good. I just had to respond to your "looks better" responce. The s14 looks like a rwd 98 626 or a bloated Camry. Nore they can look bad-ass or they can look like pure crap. Just like the s13. And they can handle like crap, or they can handle like gods. Just like the s13. It is all about preference and money.

ps: S13 looks 10x better.

Has anyone even bothered to measure chassis flex between the two chassis....

I'd take whatever car I could get underweight and add ballast. Everything else is irrelevant imo.

i was under the impression the s13 had lots of inherent understeer. Even on a friend's completed modded (multilink upgrades), he still complains of understeer.

At the recent AutoX's my friend in a stock s14 had trouble keeping it straight, tail was very happy.

get a 97-98 s14. they are stiffer than the 95-96 s14

'97-98 = same exact chassis as '95-96, sans front sheetmetal.

wait .. what does S13 hatch, coupe or S14 zemkie, kuoski have anything to do with endurance ?

Any model would be good, what you want to build for endueance is the motor, so why the big muff about the chassis ?

S14 looks better.

- Brian

That's why.

But seriously, engine should be the greater concern. If anything an S13 would be cheaper. And cheaper puts a bigger smile on the face.

If that's the case, let's use an ultra light chassis, like a Mid-90s Geo Metro...hehe.

And truthfully, a fully stripped and caged S13 will be lighter and just as stiff as a caged and stripped S14, marginally.

It really doesn't matter, one doesn't offer that much more performance, unless you had to use a stock chassis w/ no bracing, which I'm sure IS NOT the case.

Just like "SR vs KA"...this one comes down to availability, budget, and preference.

well, wouldn't finding an s13 in good shape be theoretically harder than finding an s14 in good shape. You don't want a fucked up chassis for an enduro, where finishing is as big a concern as being competitive...how long of a race are we talkin?

Well, the engine will be anyway SR20DET. What I'm curiuos is the base.
S14 is longer wheel base thats good, but its a bit heavier.
But S14 looks better and sponsors, as the crowd, will love it more ;)
S14 has good brakes, still not shure will it be enought (thinking about brembo 6 piston calipper, but they are expensive). S14 has vlsd, with is is ok for track, not for drifting.
I already have a coilovers for S14 (as I own one). Is it possible to fit them on S13???

its 1000 km race.

Car will be totally striped, with rollcage, struts, glassfibre bonnet & fenders etc.

S14 coilovers do not fit S13, sorry.

S14 brakes will need upgrading for endurance racing, no question there. Try the 300ZX (Z32) brakes all around...with a lighter than stock S14, they'll have plenty of stopping power for you.

All S14s do not have VLSD...only sure way to tell is if they have ABS on an SE model...at least here in the states.

Sorry to dissapoint you Brian ;), but mine is Euro spec S14. it has vlsd, 4piston calliper with 280 rotor, has ABS, has bigger stock T28, 440 injectors.
