are sunpro guages any good? I might grab a set (water temp, oil pressure, volt) from autozone for like 30$. Are they accurate at all?

i'm wondering the same thing. i've *heard* they're more accurate than autometer. someone verify.

I friend of mine was trying to figure out what gauges were accurate. It turns out the autometer were the most accurate.

what brands did he test? cuz i've heard that the autometer ones aren't that accurate.
i'd like to get a list of as many brands of gauges as possible and how accurate they are, and make it a sticky or something.

my friend had auto meter. they work but he hated looking at them. so cheap.

if i was actually gonna spend money on gauges i'd probably get greddy, or the cheaper defis.
i don't think autometer look THAT cheap. especially compared to eqqus, sunpro, apc, etc

i like the greddy's. i was skeptical due to the fact that its electrical and i was always a huge fan of analog gauges, but they're still very very quick to respond in both coolant temp and oil press. those are the only two i need anyways, and i love them. dash mount greddy setup owns in iraq.

I love defi gauges.. the BF gauges hot.
I've read on multiple occasions that autometer boost gauges tend to be off..
Their other gauges work good enough for almost every club race car in america to run them..

I have 2 VDO gauges in my car. I like them. They are plain and aren't all bling bling like some gauges. I got them off of www.egauges.com. I know Porsche uses VDO gauges in their cars, so I'm sure they are good quality.

Sunpros look like shit;don't get sunpro. They are fine for say....a 1973 Camaro
Anybody used the autozone "faze" ones? They look cool and are cheap:)

Faze sucks, my friend has em and they blow...
I like anything from Blitz...sweet shiznaps...

Blitz and APexi analog gauges are the best IMO
they just aint cheap:( (rather spend my $$ on stuff like larger I/C's and exhaust)

If you want cheap I have an extra set lying around here that weren't used. They are AC Autotechnic R2 Reverse Style Meters. If you wanna see what they look like check out this link:
http://www.acautotechnic.com/racegauges3.html
The ones that I have are: Volt Meter, Water Temp., and Oil Pressure.
Not sure which of those you need...but lmk if ur interested. PM for pricing...

The AC Autotechnic meters are very accurate, I've been using them in a lot of cars and they work well...

mmm Defi!! hehe two years and I still like mine. too bad the oil pressure sensor busted shortly after install and I was too stupid to get it replaced under warrenty :( new sensor is almost same price as a whole new guage

vdo is what i use, if they're used with OEM applications such as BMW and Porsche, its good enough for me.. and it has been, for 6 years.

I'm just curious, how do you guys measure the accuracy of your gauges? I see a lot of people saying "Yeah, I have X gauge, and it's accurate."

my friend has a sunpro tach in his mirage... 20 bucks at pep boys, and its pretty close to the readings he gets from his apexi SAFC, so tahts a pretty good guess at how accurate it is for the tach.

for example. a friend runs an AC autechnic mechanical boost guage. he then swapped out for his friend greddy elec. boost guage. and got near identical readings. personally i would go with the DEFi guages, just Bcuz of how they look and they are badass, but realistically i will go with what works VDO,Autometer, and a few AC autechnic guages will occupy my car...

I like VDO too
the vision series is probably the best.
Black face- white numbering that is backlit (think stock gauge) with red pointer.
its one of the easiest to read. Unlike the autometer.
I got oil temp/press, boost, water temp, and EGT
Yeah, i'm a gauge whore!!!
