View Full Version : Does anyone run EBC green stuff, or any low dust brake pads?

Okay call me lazy, but I am tired of washing my car, cleaning my alloy wheels, and a week later my wheels are black again from brake dust. I might also be buying white wheels soon and the effect will be much worse then.
So I am wondering if the low dust formula brake pads are any good?

Please list what kind of pads you have, how much you paid, and opinion on braking power.

thanks for your time,
DbD

ebc green stuff sucked big time... would never go back to them.

I run Axxis ultimates: huge amount of brake dust though.

running hawk hps pads. great street pad for my kinda driving.
good cold stops, low dust, low noise. they dont have the hot bite of the more aggressive pads, but its enough for me.

I'm running Porterfield R4-S pads. They're much less dusty than the craptastic stuff from Advance Auto I had before, and the dust is a lighter shade of gray. They have good initial bite in anything above freezing, and are good for light track duty (~20 min. session or less). I bought 'em over a year ago, so the price is probably different, but the best deal was at Livermore Performance (http://www.livermoreperformance.com).

Before you ever put the new wheels on the car (and before you get tires mounted if possible) wax the hell out of them.

i also have hawk hps pads but they turn my wheels reddish after a week of driving around.

damned... get the mr. clean car wash gun. it works great. i can wash my car twice in about 10 minutes. it has a filtered spray so you dont need to dry it. u let the water dry off and it leaves no water spots. for your wheels, get that armor all wheel cleaner. spray it on, leave it for 10 minutes, spray it off. it takes off all the dust with no wiping if you do it often enough (i do it every week).

EBC brakes for 300zx upgrades. 70 bucks. Good braking but my rims still get dirty. Hey does anyone know how to clean off rims with really bad stains? Its almost like oil stains are on my front rims. Cant get them clean with just regular soap.

I've heard good things about these pads.. usually less dust than ultimates and almost as high a temp rating..

How's cold bite? That's what I like most about the ultimates is how well the stop right off the bat.

I have a metal polish that is great, it keeps all the dust, water spots and anything else from sticking to your rims. It works really good on my gf's chrome rims, havent tried it on white rims but it is safe for paint as you can also use it on your car paint as a protectant. Also I have project mu pads on my 240 and there isnt too much brake dust.
