Hey guys

I am sure there are plenty of these threads, but companies change and thats what I want to inquire about. I am almost positive that I am buying an S15 Sr20-det engine, and I was wondering if anybody has had exceptionally good service and reliable companies to comment on. I myself was eyeing Heavythrottle.com. I plan on buying an engine within 2wks. Thanks

They are a very reputable company, I've only heard good things about them. If you are in NC (like I am) you have a few somewhat local options. I have a buddy in TN that sells clips/motorsets. I know 2 guys who've purchased from him. PM me for details if you're interested.

Oh wow! S15 motor!? Every US 240SX either being an S13 or S14 HAS to have to be converted to S15 stuff being that the S15 is the only "SILVIA" to ever exsist. You need to do the front end coversion and put in the S15 motor!

Oh yeah don't forgot to convert the rear lights! The S15 seats and the steering wheel and shift knob! S155555555555555555555555555!!!! SILVIA CONVERSION!!!!! YEAH!

That was unwanted... HeavyThrottle, Phase2Motortrend, and many Cali shops are reputable. Just select the nearest one to your place, give them a call, and you will decide at that moment.

S15 Motor and Tranny???? Get ready to spend money and a lot of hours to have everything work right.

I'll say buy a nice decent S14 front clip and swap out the brand new S15 turbo, tomei/hks cams, valve springs, 740/850cc injectors, power fc, greddy elbow, air filter, cat. back exhaust, pfc, fuel pump, boost control, fmic and others that you can think of. (of course you have to swap out those maintainese parts like: water pump, plugs, belts, thermostat, a lot of gaskets) the difference between purchasing the s14 and s15 can be use for all those upgrade parts. you'll be easily looking about 280-300whp and a really nice car to daily drive or beginner drifter or whatevers before you really get a feel how your sr20det can put out.

that's the package i was looking for cuz one of my socal friend just finished the upgrade and it was nnnnnniiiiiiiiiiiccccccceeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yea, the more I think about it and what my end goal is, the s14 would be a much better choice. I still am giving consideration to the s13 as well, but the s15 is definitely out. However, although grateful for the advice, I was more concerned about good reputable companies I could buy from. I live in Raleigh, NC as you guys probably can see...shipping of the complete s14 engine is 250.00 from Heavythrottle. As of now I am still going with these guys. I was just curious to see if there was anybody else as good as these guys.

Heavythrottle,
Phase2motortrend,
this Tennessee shop Mbmbmb23 referred me too.

Is this all? If so, that is fine, but people who have dealt with these guys I listed, any problems at all?

There is also JGY Customs here in Southern Va. They are a reputable shop with motors on hand most of the time....

Dont buy from RICKEYS AUTO CENTER in FL, hes a little bitch, he wont pay the shipping company, that shipped my engine, therefore the shipping company wont refund my request for shipping back cause they delivered it to the wrong address. Among other things the engine looks like shit. Rickey sucks IMO and in a lot of other peoples.

I've heard great things about JGY.. And they are close enough that you could just drive up there, and pick your motor out. Seeing them in person is always a good thing.

http://www.store.yahoo.com/phase2motorsports/newshar.html

You'll spend more money on shipping but you'll get: smic, radiator, fan shroud, a harness that's uncut for SURE, complete intercooler piping and couplings, guage cluster with 7200 rpm redline, no mis-match ecu, maf, nor other stuffs, jdm a/c unit and all sensors (if you want to figure them out or ebay them and get money back LOL) and a lot more.

Just out of curiosity, why would you say that?

so you can check it out and make sure you are getting something you want. i have no experience from them, but some folks have had bad experiences with them.

me personally, since i'm local, if i were to buy a clip, i would probably go with them. BUT only because i'm local, if i werent, i'd go elsewhere.

Ghettokracker71

Because I'm not a local are you saying you'd go check a clip/motorset out for me and make sure its fine before I order it? Thanks man

My friend bought two s14 motorsets from venus auto. Both motors blew, and it wasnt bad install either. They also refused to give any kind of refund whatsoever.

As for phase2motorsports you need not to worry about them being sold out, i believe they have about 22 redtop front clips right now.

I bought 3 clips from venus and had absolutly no problems with the motors.

Venus is probably the cheapest around... but to ship a motorset to the east coast costs around $550. And if anyting gets messed up he ships the part to you free!

I have been looking at www.rimsandthings.com, they have incredible prices, which kinda scares me. I am really leaning to spending the extra money and going with phase 2 or enjuku.

I am aware of that. This place is a lose lose situation isnt it. I do a search, do some research to avoid making a new thread, and I still get some guff. Sorry for not being noobish and making a new thread.
Is it cool if i try to revive the thread to get some people to possible give me some valuable input on this whole thing?

Buffalo Daughter

somebody should make a sticky thread for noobs and aspiring drifters and beginners and it should go like this ------>

SR20DET DOES NOT MAKE YOU A DRIFTER NOR DOES IT MAKE YOUR CAR A SILVIA.
CONVERTING YOUR CAR WITH S15 HEADLIGHTS AND TAILIGHTS ALSO DOES NOT MAKE YOUR CAR A SILVIA.

nightwalker
02-26-2005, 03:38 PM
fuck that. Let them get their SR20s and wreck all their cars. Makes for cheap parts for me.

Buffalo Daughter
02-26-2005, 04:06 PM
Ummmmmm maybe. Dont you just love it when they just go straight for the sr.

Most common question people ask.
1. Does your car have an SR?
2. Are you planning to get an SR?
3. You should get an SR.
4. Have your ever heard of an SR before?
5. SR's rule!
