hey
i just got a new head for the dohc and the engine tilted over and a of the caps got loose and fell out. i have no idea which one goes to which. does it matter which one i put it on? or are they all the same. thanks

shims? those are specific, I forget how u find out how they go. I was also wondering because this happeneed to me but i decided to throw the head away.

ahh dammit yeah i cant do anything until i find out where they go. im trying to finish the timing chain swap but this is stopping me. anyone?

yeah there is no "order." You have to measure the clearance on each valve now and measure all the shims.
its a bitch.

is it called a feeler gauge or something like that? do i put the cams on and then measure it. i only mixed up three of them. also, what are the measurements for each shim. thanks

question: when people get new cams they dont fuck with the caps do they, Or is the cam always perfect, and its is the springs and shit that you compensate for. Oh and another thing. I read a post a while back and people said you can get this info from nissan, but i dont think its true, why the hell would nissan keep records of each individual engine and the different sized caps you put on there.

would i be able the measure the shims with my other friends head or is it to small of a difference to notice it. thanks

ok i replaced the shims with shims my my frieds de head. the thing is that the car overheated. would overheating mess up the shims. they look fine but im not sure. thanks
