I have a '89 Coupe and it is being destroyed by rust. The Outside body is fine...

The underbody has rust where the frame rails meet the the firewall, top of stut towers have little rust, rust on the door pannel, rusty rear under trunk area, small surface rust and a little hole on the floor, surface rust on part of frame.

So all new metal in the whole trunk area, new metal in parts of the floor, stut towers fixed and rewelded, all other rust fixed. Sandblast the shell underside and interior with primer and paint is floating through my mind.

Majority of sandblasting will be done by myself, rust fixed professionally and prep work done by myself, then primed and painted proffesionally. This is all with the car complelty stripped down then assembled.

A restoration...My inspiration was reincanated by that S13 post where he complelty rebuilt the car.

Some will say dont waste your time but thats not how I see it, in the end I can admire what I have accomplished and have that much more respect.
Any thoughts or ideas on this??

sounds good to me. i think keeping as many 240sx chassis' as possible on the roads is the best course of action for 240sx enthusiasts in general.

This is the 1st stage. Repairing any problems, then when assembling the car the aftermarket will replace alot of parts. I have spent 2 years researching parts and have got quite a solid plan down. New information is always comming up though.

The reason why I am taking up this restoration is mostly due to the knowledge that will be gained as well as the outcome.

more people should restore 240's. the more on the road, the better.

you should consider acid dipping instead of sandblasting.

the acid dipping has been on my mind and this week I am looking into see if anyone in the city here does that. I heard of the acid dipping from TRUCKS tv. Hopefully I will be starting in 1 or 2 months, but if not it will be in the spring. All depends how school is going.
