Ok, on my 1989 hatch, I have right now new tires, new wheels, new front control arms and TC rods and inner and outer tie rods. Also just got a full alignment. My car still vibrates from 50 to 65 MPH....I guess is not the front end or alignment since these components are brand new. The car never been in accident and is low mileage, no bumpy roads on this baby....Thats the best way I can explain the problem, also I have brand new springs and shocks. Maybe an engine mount??? :-/
ANy ideas?

sounds like your tires aren't balanced correctly.

Does your steering wheel shake at these speeds in relation to the vibration?
If not, it could be the driveshaft. Unbolt it from the differential, spin it 180, bolt it back up and see if that helps.

No it doesn't have to be tires. I was getting vibration at those speeds just a few months ago, and it turned out to be the driveshaft. I spun it 180 and it decreased by a reasonable amount. So I pulled a new driveshaft from the wreckers and problem solved. Read the FSM, it will tell you to spin the driveshaft 180 if you feel a high speed vibration.

ok dude....... i agree with you both...... the driveshift or the tires... but the tires are easier to fix..... bring the car back to the tire shop and have them balance it for free...... (the tire ppl can tell u if it is the tires or not or even the rim is bent)
then check your shaft.......

Is that if the whole car vibrates or just the wheel?
If it's just the wheel, I would guess it's the steering rack "spring." Search for "shimmy TSB" and you'll find tons of info.

If it's the driveshaft, the car will vibrate, not the wheel.

I just got the brand new tires and rims, and it was doing it before that so is something in the car......It feels like alingment, vibrations in steering wheel and car, you know the one where even the shifter swings from side to side.....I will do the search for shimmy TSB, thanks for the help. If I rotate the shaft and the vibration is reduced is that a sign that I need a new one??? :eek3:

Here's the things that I think it could be:
-Unbalanced tires
-Loose lugnuts (damn "Motegi Tuner" lugnuts off ebay...dont ask)
-Generic ebay wheels spacers
-S13 spindle bolts used w/ S13 shocks and S14 spindles (again...dont ask :) )

Funny, I just found out my s13 does it from EXACTLY 60mph and stays to 70, then it stops. Im gonna go with the tires.

...I actually diagnosed one of those vibrations to be a slight bind in the suspension. Guys with aftermarket tension rods might get this. Make sure your suspension is not twisted or binding anywhere. The suspension needs to move, if its binding, you will get vibration.
just another thought in case the other fixes don't work.

first off i know this thread i 2 years old, but im having almost the exact problem, so i didnt go make a new one
i recently rotated my tires, my tires are rotational, one of the tires is mounted in the wrong direction, before i rotated all the tires, that one was in the rear driver side, now its on the front driver side, and from 50-65mph theres alot more vibration on the steering wheel than before, would the directional tire be my problem?
its a 91 hatch, n i notice some pull to the right, i think thats alignment, but thats another story i guess

Did you even try what everyone suggested? It's not like times have changed since two years ago. We still have four wheels attached.
Rotating your wheels mean nothing if you have a flat spot, or unbalanced tire/wheel. And the reason your car is pulling, is because of the uneven wear on the tires. If you have lots of camber wear on one side and not the other. That's what you get.
Take your car to your local wheel shop, purchase some tires and get the balanced.

your car has to much power, you need a gt wing to hold it steady on the ground yo!
But if your still having problems, im sure you didnt do what everyone said.
I got my money on alignment problem or a bent suspension part.
