How do I SAFELY get a sticker off my car

You know how dealers always put their sticker on the cars they sell. Well mine is really ugly and kinda stands out, its bigger than the "240sx" and its right next to it. Is the stuff in autoparts stores safe to remove stickers or will it damage the paint? I also have some nasty sap(sp?) that I haven't been able to get off without scraping it off and I don't want to do that.

Take a blow dryer and "melt" the glue that holds the sticker on, then peel off the sticker, also get some cleaner and spray it on there to clean anything else left over if there is any. I guess you could use the blow dryer for tree sap to, though a good washing of the car always got that off for me.

Tree sap and bird crap (ooh, it rhymes!!!) I usually first spray with this "all-purpose automotive cleaner"- they claim it's safe for your paint- and then I take it to the car wash. I need to finish removing all my factory stickers, so I'll apply that 'blow-dryer' technique.

there is a product called goo gone it works very good and safe on the paint

I used a heat gun to get all my stickers off...but a blow dryer will work, too.  It might take a tad longer, though...those heat guns will melt your paint if you aren't careful!:o  For some stuff that I think is similar to the goo gone that my240 mentioned, go to a hardware store and look for a clear bottle with a black label with an amber colored liquid in it...sorry can't remember the name, but that stuff works alot better than that bug and tar remover stuff and it's supposed to be safe for your paint.  I'd rinse it off afterwards just in case, though.

I used lacquer thinner and/or 3M adhesive remover to get rid of my pinstripes. I got sap too, nasty, permanently damaged my paint <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> I took the lump off with a blade and the rest off with more lacquer thinner, good thing it was a hot day that day, it really helped. I can still see it, but it's buried under layers of wax, don't forget to wax the part of the car you used any chemical on.
