I have a 1990 Nissan 240sx with an sr20det red top swap. This car has been running perfect until I decided to swap stereos and now it will start and run for a few seconds sputter & die. The ecu was just sitting in the floor so I mounted it to the kick panel. What have I done to my car????

I installed a stereo in my 89 with an sr a couple months back, and it works fine. Stereo wiring is simple, its all color to color, and should have nothing to do with how the engine runs, unless you shorted something out? Basically go back and check the wiring, anything that was changed put it back the way it was. maybe you left the ground loose on the battery after you installed the stereo? Mine shut off once when while i was driving, because i forgot to re tighten the ground post lol

I got the stereo working good but the car still won't start. Tightened the cables and everything. I think something may have happened to the ECU :picardfp:

Going to need more a description... Clicks, silence, squeaks, turns but doesn't run, etc.

Swap back old stereo ? Lol sounds like a 12v ignition power wire may have been disturbed start by identifying :

Direct 12v ecu back up power is good
12v ignition in its pin out locations are in order
All necessary grounds are there
ECCS relay has proper power
That ur fuel pump stays on (pink/black) has -ve ground trigger
You have power to tps airflow and cas and it's 5v signals and ground
12v to injectors and coils as we'll as ground

Use a pin out diagram from the fsm
