And building my shopping list. You know how it is :D

Anyways I was going through the FSM prior to the job to make sure I had everything and I noticed it says " apply a lithium based grease containing molybdenum disulphide" to the input shaft, and other places.

So I started looking around for it, I think I will use this,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MICROLUBROL-MAX-EP-HEAVY-EQUIPMENT-Extreme-Pressure-Grease-3-Moly-Micro-PTFE-/281258515743?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item417c505d1f

Anybody have a better suggestion?

I also see they sell straight molybdenum as a powder, and higher percentage lubricants (I believe Honda makes a moly 60% high temp grease)

not sure... I though it was just engine grease..

(I believe Honda makes a moly 60% high temp grease)Honda Moly 60 paste, 3oz, pn 08734-0001 any Honda dealer should have it at the parts counter.

But if you want what Honda recommends for the app You'll want the 08798-9002.

Don't get to anal about it. But, whatever you use, Light film, you don't want this slinging on your clutch faces.

I've always used wheel bearing grease or whatever similar was available, never had a problem haha. Really don't think it's that big of a deal.

haha, I was just about to come back and say that I was going to use this... I found it in ebay for $17~

thanks for the reaffirmation :D

What I got so far:
rear main seal
transmission front seal
release bearing
molybdenum grease
brake cleaner
nismo pivot ball
clutch fork retainer clip
engine oil
distilled water

And because Ill be doing the turbo at the same time, I also grabbed
oem locking tabs, gaskets, and soft lines

and, I picked up some:
metric prevailing torque lock nuts, 12mm grade 10.9 (Maybe I will use on the manifold / turbo union)
And
metric hex lock nuts nylon insert 12mm grade 10.9 (for the downpipe -> transmission bracket)
And a bunch of other assorted nuts for around the car while I was placing that order :D

Now I need to find a cut driveshaft yolk, to shove into the tailshaft to keep the fluid in it while I pull the engine. That, and a spare flywheel just in case mine is toasted.
(Anyone have any other idea to keep fluid in the trans? I really dont want to drain it.... ugh) Mainly cause I know that if I look at the gear oil I wont want to re-use it probably hahahah $$$.

A transmission tailshaft plug will work fine. I have forgotten what size fits.

You could just unbolt the yoke from the driveshaft damper.

Any particular reason you don't want to change the fluid?

I just put new fluid in 5000 miles ago, and MT-90 is about $45 to re-fill this trans. Nevertheless....

I wound up draining the fluid anyways and using some new MT-90 I had sitting on a shelf. On the bright side, I left the driveshaft hanging on a zip-tie and simply guided it back into the transmission as I put the engine back in.

lol yes, and everytime I lift my foot i do so very slowly. Heck right now the wastegate isn't even connected so, no boost, no surge. I refuse to tear up the turbo because of bov placement. I will wait until I get the proper hot-side push type bypass installed. (the car came like this, I am just doing maintenance first, then I will worry about the power it makes)

You pulled the whole engine to change the clutch?

I've done it both ways in the past, and prefer the engine removal method. I was removing the turbo anyways, so it made the removal much easier (the outlet usually interferes with the steering shaft), plus I was betting on having to do the rear main seal, and I wanted to really inspect and clean the engine from all corners. This was the opportunity I needed to do everything at once. Now I can drive the car for 50,000 miles without worrying about it. 5-9 years from now it might need a trans or an overhaul but thats just me planning ahead already. This clutch should go 50k easily, I can already feel it stick down so good, quick and gentle, that healthy flywheel helps it to be a pleasure to drive, it really makes me smile.
