I site this thread: Q45 brake thread (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=56960)
As you can see from the following pictures, the brakes do not line up AT ALL with teh stock brackets. :mrmeph: :bash: :hammer:

http://www.ohionissans.com/images/P8050201.JPG
So f*cktards, what the hell are you talking about with Q45 brakes?
These are brandnew(remanufactured) units from a 93 Q45. I got the hardwarekit(clips) and new guidepins and pads and all.
I am assuming that Q45 brackets(the ones that mount to the spindle) are actually needed, but shit, after you idiots( :fawk: ) say you dont need any brackets at all, I wonder if the Q45 ones even bolt to the S13 240sx spindle.
Discuss.

Yeah, because typically, a "caliper" consists of the bracket that mounts it to the spindle, and the housing that holds the pistons (what you got).
Any junkyard would sell you a complete caliper, and it would bolt on.
Most auto parts stores would sell you a complete caliper, and it would bolt on.
You DO NOT have all the part needed, by no fault of any forum thread or internet site...
Go back to the parts store, inform them you need the bracket that accompanies what you have.
Once you have all the correct parts, it bolts right on.

haha dillweed, you couldn't tell that the bracket bolts to the spindle? ever think that might be your problem? too quick to accuse a forum of misinformation that was here to tell you you could even fit those fucking brakes. go cry yourself back to the autoparts store.

You need both Green things to make the 'complete caliper assembly'
It bolts to the Spindle at the red bolts.

And you guys need to realize that missinformation with a friggin brake swap does not have to do with car work skill..
I have 2 240s. On this second one I put in a new KA(which runs, no problem) amoung other things...all mostly by myself with the help of one friend who is has less expirience than i do.

there is the "caliper" and then there is the "bracket."
if someone told me all I needed was the "caliper assembly" I would assume they were talking about the caliper and the accompanying pistons and pieces. If someone said I also needed the bracket, well, then I'd realize I needed that too. You guys really are a bunch of douche bags, the mods just hang around and make fun of people and start flame wars.

exactly.
go to ANY auto parts store or even a dealer and ask for a complete caliper assembly. YOU WONT GET THAT BRACKET WITH IT!

Every FSM I've seen the Assembly includes the frame cause it is part of the brakes.

Yet if you had searched, you would have found at least two threads where i talked about this exact same problem, where I had to find a bracket because I accidentally sold my old brackets for remanufactured ones.
Don't talk shit before you actually do your work.

exactly.
go to ANY auto parts store or even a dealer and ask for a complete caliper assembly. YOU WONT GET THAT BRACKET WITH IT!
At the dealer, you'll get the whole assembly which includes the bracket and caliper which is why the whole brake caliper system is so expensive. At an autoparts store, no you won't get it because they assume you already have the bracket and only plan to replace the caliper. Shit happens, but don't bitch about it when a bunch of other people have already done it and you're 5 steps behind. Nobody really cares. Just get it done and drive your car.

does this pertain to Z32 brakes as well? (requirement of bracket in order to successfully retrofit calipers)
mrmephistopheles
08-06-2004, 05:25 AM
Z brakes are a fixed caliper design, not floating, like S13/14 and Q45.
So.. No brackets.

Definitely agreed. Its ridiculous to think just because somebody owns an S-chassis,or bought one it was for the purpose of drifting. When I bought my RMS13 I didn't know anything about 'drifting' I simply loved the way it drove and I know since its a Nissan ( :w00t: ) that it should be faily reliable. What a close minded fuckwit :loco:

wait... wait... you can grip AND drift with a 240? FUCK! I knew somthing was wrong! I've been driving around town all sideways. Fuck that shit is hard! How come no one told me I coudn't grip those corners! I hate ALL OF YOUS PEOPLES!!!
MakotoS13
08-06-2004, 06:13 PM
freaking CRAP i hate it when people say "grip" like that. yes, i can grip a 240. i grip it to adjust body panels and pull parts off. cars are set up for "grip" there is no need for a special FREAKING TERM. i mean, i understand that drift is now all of a sudden the reason 240's were even thought of but christ....
i had a bad day at work... just so ya know.
yeah, so this guy should be stripped of all his 240 priviledges. if you can't tell that a bracket is obviously needed to bolt a part up you just shouldn't be unbolting anything. jeez, i mean, we all overlook stuff sometimes but he went on a huge rant like its our fault he's incapable of basic understanding of automotive applications
OptionZero
08-06-2004, 07:28 PM
Actually "grip" is commonly referred to as Auto crossing or road racing (track), or any form of driving that doesn't involve having the ass hang out at ludicrously awesome angles.
This is the opposite of "drift".
Grip is also used to refer to something's "holding ability" or "adhesion".
What has occured here is something called "slang", which is when words have more than one meaning, typically one understood only by a particular subset of people- in this case, zilvians.

I think everyone that posted are the ones that turned this into a "huge rant."
if its so annoying just... don't read it. amazing how you failed to grasp that.
anyway since you guys have preceeded me on this one, time to post whore!
togue: means montain road. its not an english word. its not pronounced "toagg," its pronounced "toe gay" and that sounds retarded. Don't use it. Just say mountain run, or canyon racing, or whatever you used before all the magazines started talking jibberish.
JDM: who cares.
grip: what I had on your mom's ass last night.
drifting: hype hype hype. hype. hype.
sr20det: blows up just as easy as the ka, only parts cost lots more. not so smart.
s13: rusty chassis. cheap. not the ultimate sports car you want it to be, no matter how much money you throw at it.
alcohol: only way to have the patience to work on s13. too many broken bolts.
spec: way overused term. wheels don't have "specs." things can't be "j-spec" with reference to japanese domestic manufacture status. Spec is short for specification. specification is taken from the base word specific. refers to one or more value. doesn't make sense if you ask someone what the specification of their wheels are/is, or if their car's motor is japanese specification.
power sunroof: no headroom.
