Ok, so I bought a new sub last night, 12" 200 Watt Alpine Type S, but i'm not sure what amp to get... Now, it's 200 RMS, 600 peak. I was told to get like a 400Watt amp, but that seems kinda crazy to me... I think I'm going to go with a 200, but I don't have a lot of money to spend. Can anyone reccomend a good 200 watt amp for under 200 dollars? Or at least close to that?

a type S.. nice..  its dvc 4 ohms right?.. so that leaves you with a 2 ohm load to fill..  the amp im thinking would be the jbl bp300.1  its class D i believe and it should run about 200..  i always see the bp600.1 and thats 265 on ebay right now.. so check around

I don't think it's a DVC... The Dual Voice Coil would have two seperate inputs wouldn't it?

well.. since is a svc 4 ohm..  get a lanzar 1200d.. its about 230 something?..  itll put out 400 watts @ 4ohms..  and if you ever get another sub..  you can drop it down to 2 ohms and get 800 watts..  something to think about..

has ne1 heard of the new JL 13.5" w7 coming out??
the sub it going to be nasty 1 jl is equal to 2 15" subs
but one JL is going to be about $800 WOW big dent in the pocket and the amps you need to run thoes subs r redickulas one sub asks for about 600 watts rms think if you run 2 of them you will blow the hatch or trunk right off

I just read about the W7's the other day. They look badass. I want to be able to mount a sub somewhere without having to require a big box. Anyone want to start making some sub boxes molded to the spare tire hole?

I'm thinking of building a custom enclosure for this one... but it's a lot of weight I don't want to add.

i dont think that the sub requaires a large box but i dont think that you can do it in to the spair tire slot
they were saying that JL will not  let ne dealers distribute the new subs with out going to there class
and the box design is toatly different that what we r useto
ill see if i can get some more info

Ok, Found my amp, i'm going with the JBL BP300.1, and I'm going to wire the sub in paralell to get a 2 ohm load. My only question, is how do I do that? It's easy to take one wire and go from point a to b, but what do I do to get the second drop in there?

Found out that getting this amp is going to be a PAIN IN THE ASS!!!! I ordered it from simplycheap.com only to have them cancel the order saying it was out of stock, I checked with crutchfield, and of course they want to charge me an outragious price of 270 dollars, and I found it at one last store for 170 dollars, but they add close to 1/3 of that cost as shipping! Ugh... this is starting to seem like more trouble than it's worth. I had the same type of thing happen with a mixer a few months ago and it was pure #### for about a month <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

Well, i've always been a fan of blaupunkt, but I think my main advice would be stay away from rockford fosgate. They're played up way more than they should be.

Nismo, go for Eclipse audio for the 15, my friend has a 15, and two 10's, all eclipse in his land cruiser. Sounds nice.

Whoever wanted the amp. Go for very high output, I would say Rockford 800a2.
