:tweak: uhh, are you serious

Sorry, I just can't justify paying $900 for a sixth gear.

its not going to work without having the S15 pumpkin. Well it will work but you wount know how fast your going. The speed sensor is in the pumkin on the S15's

It's better then paying the astronomical prices wanted for the whole s15 SR w/tranny. How slick would that be to have a 6 speed. Thats one of the things I dislikemost about my eclipse and my 240. Freeway driving seems alot better with 6 gears.

the 6th gear isn't any longer.. it ends up being the same (or very near) what our 5th gear is.
the advantage of having a close-ratio transmission (6speed) is it allows you to more easily stay in your powerband.

but the final drive ratio is lower/longer (3.69 vs. our 4.08) so the gears are a little closer together but the rpm in top gear is lower.

So does a 5spd with a 4.636 final drive =]

Those 6 Speeds are weaker then the 5 speeds from what I hear. IIRC people in japan would swap in the 5 speed to replace the 6 speed.

^ I've heard the same thing.

Ok, I kinda lied. After some digging, here are the ratios:

S15 6 speed S13/14 5 speed
1st 3.626 3.321
2nd 2.200 1.902
3rd 1.541 1.308
4th 1.213 1.000
5th 1.000 0.838
6th 0.767
'R!' 3.437 3.382

I wouldnt want a 6 speed for drifting . You will have to shift more.

You can stay in the powerband easier.

Uhh...when you are "drifting"? I can guarantee that u wont be shifting any more on a 5 spd than a 6 while sliding around. You very rarely hit 6th, it wouldn't matter. Unless ur trying to slide at super high speeds...good luck haha. :x: enjoy the roll... :hahano:

And you would know all about this wouldnt you. .

I was refering to when you have shorter gears with a 6 speed you will run out of gear, also it will offset the gear ranges. take this example. Say with a 5 speed you will be able to drift a whole track in the top of 2nd and third. If you went back with that 6 speed then you would be in 3rd and fourth but be lower in the rpms. Also in case you havent noticed which you prob havent because all you prob do is power over. You do shift alot while drifting. Off throttle, ever heard of it? Bounce shift? arrg im not going to even start with you.

Why do you think all the people in japan swap in s14 trannys?

Have fun powering over smart ass.

youd also need the guage cluster and the ABS computer....or something...fuck i forget already. but at any rate, the ammount of work it would take to get it to work in your car (even if you had an S15 motor) is not worth it at all.

S15 anything (shift knobs, front ends, and wheels aside) into 240SX is generally a bitch to do.
