View Full Version : Kill Switch Location?

Going to college in 2 weeks, I'm moving to a city in north-central PA where there's a lot of drug use and robbery, and I want to protect my investment in my S14 Zenki and its' SR20 i recently threw in.

My question is, where is a good location to mount a kill switch (connected to the fuel delivery system or the ECU) that is within the passenger compartment (so I can turn it on/off everytime i enter/leave the car easily) but is also hidden enough so that if someone breaks into the car, they won't see it?

My uncle used to live in this town, and had his stock Hyundai accent stolen, so a 240sx in this town will need something to keep the thieves from swiping my car.

I searched. Nothing resourceful showed. Thanks.

you could always just pull your fuel pump fuse right?

Relocate your clutch switch to somewhere higher up, near the steering column...so that you have to push it by hand to start the car. Retains factory wiring, and is sneaky.

You'll just have to reach under the dash, push the switch, start the car, then let off...you just have to complete the circuit to start it...

There are better ways, but this works, and is simple but hard to detect...no splices to find, and a sequence is needed to start the thing...not just flip and switch and then go...you'd have to know to hold it down to start the car.

Thats wut i did, cut the clutch switch wire and wired up an inline switch thru it and hid it under the dash. Wrapped the wire up in electrical tape so it looks like how it was stock. So basically when i dont feel safe, ill just flip the switch and kill the relay and car wont start even if they bypassed my alarm. Simple but effective.

sorry, but the clutch kill switch isn't effective at all. You can still push start the car. My alarm relay went out on my s14, which in tun cuts power to the clutch switch, and I could still push start my car (that's how I had to drive it around for about 2 weeks, hehe).

Put a kill switch on your ecu or fuel. ;)

Or both!

You could put them somewhere in the trunk... Then just keep your backpack in there, so whenever you get it out to go to class, hit the switches.

not a bad point. you can easily run a wire from your fuel pump up front to a flip switch too and nobody would ever detect it its not something you can trace back. you could put it under the seat or rig the switch by the hatch release. i heard a story of someone before who had a magnetic reed switch on his vw, and if he was gonna start his car he had to put his little vw symbol magnet on the dash. all different ways man, my car wont start without the defroster on...

You can mount it inside your shift boot so you cant see it but you can still get to it by feeling for it

If you have to leave your car longer than overnight, a good way to further prevent a theft is to remove the ign chip (use your recently swapped sr to your advantage)

if they find the fuel pump kill switch (or just jump the connection) they still have to figure out why it's not firing up. It's not too likely they'll have an ign chip with them, since they're like 300 freakin bucks (just don't tell anyone you do this)
