I'm testing the waters here because I cannot get my SR to run nicely and I'd rather cut my losses and part out. Here is the picture of the car, with 104k miles on the chassis or so, eibach springs, tokico shocks, black leather interior. What would I be able to sell this guy for without the motor or tranny??

Wow, you spent a ton of cash on that car and now you're selling because you can't get it to run. Makes no sense to me.

Yeah, you could easily sell it w/o a motor. As far as if you're parting it out, I might be interested inthe shocks.

If only we had a For Sale forum. Damn shame.

You mean to tell me you can sell a civic hatch shell with NOTHING for upwards of 2k, yet I can only sell my rare, near-perfect 240sx with everything plus extras, minus the motorset for only 3k? Strange.

yup, as long as u sell on zilvia. This is the cheapest place ever. Try selling it locally. I would say for a perfect condition shell maybe $5K - $6K

all in all, you can get a stock ka for $300, pay a shop $500 to install it, and sell it for $8K at least.

shell for 5-6K?
damn.
goddamn!

i still stick by the 3000

Your reason to sell your car is rather odd...and honestly...your not going to get a good price from the forums...you have to sell it to someone that knows very little about the 240SX. The rest why you see Honda civic shell sell for so much (in your area I suppose) is because with just about the same money they bought the shell for...they will have a nice car. The 240SX is different.....rarely can you get a nice car going cheap on it.

if it's only the engine and tranny out, then i still say 5-6K. For 2 grand you can easily get a shop to put an engine in and sell a car in that condition for like $9K. Then again ppl buying shells and ppl buying complete cars are a completely different population, so i still say get an engine in there and sell as a complete car.

95koukis14: there is more to the problem i'd guess. i dont know about other states, but i know in md, where they dont have a visual and u probably can fairly easily pass inspection with an sr in an s13, obdii vehicles are fucked starting last year when all they do is plug into your computer for codes. sr computers aren't calibrated the same way so you'll get an error code.

I say you dont cut your losses and take it to a shop that knows what they are doing and get yourself a SR powered Kouki. it would be a heartbreak to you to let that thing go in its condition. .;..youll regret selling her if you do

... and i was thinking the exact fuckin thing. ever since you started posting here i've been wondering whether or not i wake up in the middle of the night and start sleep-typing.

quittings for ass-heads.
priceless....
keep the car. dont be an ass-head.
really though, as frustrating as it is, dont just drop it like a bad habit. step back, and take a look @ it from another prespective, get some other opinions.
good luck!

I'm all for what you guys are saying but that is just not an option for me. I have no more money to spend on this car, im already grossly over budget, and I start school again in about 3 weeks. Even if i did get it working, my registration is past due and i have an emissions test to do. Nothing fits, so I'm cutting my losses and getting the car out of my life. Trust me, I've put up quite the fight.

Ouch...dood thats the story of my life too. Kinda fooked up how we started our SR swap bout the same time and both our cars are foooked up. Wuts wrong with it anyways? Maybe somebody can give you a hand out there who has a better know how with the SR. Sorry to hear that man...thats sooo something i can relate too only that im in the otherside of the spectrum. Id rather finish the bitch and atleast have it running again. If im not happy then, imma sell my kouki with a SR in it and get most of my money back. Cutting my losses by parting ish out is not an option.

Why don't you just put the KA back in it? That doesn't take any money. Oh yeah, but that wouldn't be the "cool" thing to do.

i've owned my 240 for 3 months and have put like 400 miles on it (driving home from san antonio) and literal DAYS in sweat and blood into it.

its not about what you are able to do because we all can make anything happen if we want it enough. its about wanting it enough to ensure that your plans carried out.

looks like he swam 100 miles and at 99.9 decided to make a u turn cause the water's too cold.

man, that's gotta suck. we aren't sayin you're a bad person, just that you're a pussy ;)

off topic, but wouldnt it be easier to just swim another .1 mile instead of turning around and swimming 99.9 miles over again in cold water? lol

why don't you take out all the aftermarket parts from the sr and leave the sr stock............. that way you can fucking find out what the real issue is and put everything back on peice by peice. You fucked up by throwing all the shit together at once. You should have built it up slowly from stock instead of being inpatient. Quick question did you do all the work yourself? If you did and cut a few corners those corners probably fucked everything up. I am personally going to keep everyhting stock when I do my swap. The real problem is i'm not doing it anytime soon.

fliprayzin240sx
07-30-2004, 04:24 PM
that was my issue too. Freakin could not get my car tuned for shiet cuz of all the mods. Try to get it back to as close as stock as possible and make it run normal. Then slowly start putting back ur mods in and tuning it each time u add a part.

I've had nothing but trouble with my SR as well... I'm still going along but if i get more serious problems i dunno anymore. There's eventually a breaking point for everyone and not everyone's budget is limitless.

Give the guy a break. It's his car and it looks damn clean. :goyou:

the only reasonable thing to do is put a stock KA back in there and sell the somomabitch or get the damn SR working.

pudula... sorry to hear you're still having problems.

IMO don't puss out. take the SR out and put in a KA. you can decide if you want to part out all the miscellaneous junk the SR has on it or try to fix whatever is wrong. but keep the car. you put alot into it already.

SimpleS14
08-02-2004, 09:15 PM
yea....I honestly think you should consider swapping in a KA and then selling it. You will get more hits once you post it on cars.com or autotrader.com. But it doesn't hurt to post it as is on those sites. :/
