So ive got my car in the shop getting ready for paint. Was talking to the guy doing the job and told him i wanted to go back with the original color of black.. then he was talking about "if you're gonna get a new paint job, make it look like its supposed to be there and not just factory."

that led to talking about pin stripes. which im not completely sure if I'm a fan of, but I do like the idea of being out of the box... and hes not charging extra for whatever i choose..

So my question (i guess its a question)

Are there any good looking add ons to a paint job that dont look overly ricey? (i dont want a japanese sun thing on the hood of the car/or fast and furious look) but just a clean extra to make it pop.

I was choosing colors of black for base and lime/bright green for whatever we decide on, if anything at all..

only idea i could think of was maybe a solid green racing stripe running down the passenger side top of the car.. kinda like a racing stripe, but off center towards passenger side.

No there are not. 1 color over the whole thing unless it's a factory 2 tone s13. Make sure your painter is doing the door jambs too.

The monster energy color paint scheme sounds horrible. Do not do that.

Never thought about it being monster related. i like redbull anyway!!! lol good point. i couldnt find anything on google so i guess its basically a sign.. only thing i remotely am into are the 2 stripes on the fenders... but those are for dodges.

if you want it to be black, but want that extra touch, pick out your own black and make it perfect. No orange peel or anything. high solids clear maybe. this could have probably gone in the paint thread.

didnt know there was a paint thread.. my bad... but what do you mean by "no orange peel" Explain Like Im 5 cause i basically thought black was black.. just depending on how good its laid down.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_peel_(effect)

even factory paint jobs have a little orange peel in them. if you can get rid of the Orange peel it will make a world of difference and make your car look like a show car compared to a factory painted car.

there are tons of different blacks. Google "jet black vs saphire black" just to get an idea.

don't even think of painting a stripe anywhere on the car. terrible idea.

orange peel refers to the surface of the paint, google it.

looks like ill be going all black then! no badges also. a guy at work has i guess factory black on his truck and when its clean its sexy. see if i can get him to get that color. as for orange peel, from what i read its all about the painters technique. he seemed to know a bit what he was doing. he had tons of classic cars and bikes in his garage but didnt take a grand tour lol

I sanded pinstripes off my S14 for hours. It was a pain to take off. Also no to pinstripes. This chassis just looks so much cleaner without any additional black lines or pinstripes, unless you're doing some wild car setup. Plus, do you have photos of your car?

thats the basic gist of it. I was gonna wait for painting and work on the motor (planned on ls1 but riding around in a friends srt4 big turbo got me wanting to just turbo it and not worry about a swap) but I hit a deer in november and it thrashed my bumper and broke a light and dented the driver side fender real well.. so I purchased a (flame me if needed lol) duraflex c-1 kit i believe it was, and the guys gonna put that on and paint. i know its cheap and will probably break but it beats driving it around looking wrecked i guess.. coilovers and square g6 18 inch wheels are the next modifications. unless someone can guide me in a direction of low offset wheels for around the 600 dollar price mark?

ive also got a new sunroof to put in this thing but like the one in the picture, the fiberglass trim is gone.. im currently in the process of attempting to apply foam sealer and sand it down then layer some fiberglass over that and paint it black for trim.. see how that works :-/

is this real life? The painter sounds like a dumb ass himself. "Make it look like its supposed to be their"? Wtf? That is his job to make it babies ass slick. A paint job should always look better than the factory one lol. I mean seriously.

It only takes like 10 minutes to remove factory pin stripes. It's called an eraser wheel. Been doing this for 15 years lol.
