First off yes I have researched this, Second I am tired of researching this, Third its my sons car so why am I researching this?

Engine is sr20det with AEM computer and Map set up.

Here is the problem and back ground. A couple of weeks ago we took a 2hr plus trip with his car. It ran fine going and on the return trip until he exited the highway. Then the engine just died at idle.

He nursed the car home and noticed the fuel air mix was not reading right and would go max on needle then back to norm as he got up to speed.

We began diagnosing the problem and knowing the car has had some wiring issues I checked over the plugs and harnesses while he checked spark plugs, injectors and such. We found the TPS plug was broken and if the car was running and we unplugged it no change was noted at idle. It would either have a high loping idle or just die off after coming off the high side of the wave.

Today I changed the TPS and set it accordingly and had a pretty good idle for a few minutes. Then off it went again up and down 1500 plus back to 300 or so and dieing off occasionally.

I took it for a spin (keys were home and he wasn't a bit of a turn around) and found upon acceleration everything was fine all the way up to 6500 plus, plenty of torque to break the rear end loose going into third and no missing. But as soon as you let off the gas she would just idle out and die. Fuel air mixture gauge was still erratic also only reading accurately under acceleration then pegging and going back to zero.

Back under the hood I noticed the center relay on the left hand side was clicking on and off. Almost in sync with the engine from what I could remember from when it was running. I am not sure this is normal.

Any clues from here to go with? I am still trying to get the manuals for the car and I am sure it is written somewhere but like I said I am tired of reading different threads looking for the one clue I missed.

Thanks for any help or ideas. I am more of an old v8 guy and the newer engines I am still learning a bit.

check the IACV under the intake manifold, sounds like on DECEL its not catching the idle letting the engine stall. These things can get gunked up its just a little piston in there to let air in.

Yes it does have a bov and I think it is venting to atmosphere since when I drove it I got a lot of PHSSSST under acceleration and deceleration with minimal turbo. I will check both of these during the week.
Thank You

I edited my initial reply after I re-read your op and noticed you said aem with map. Meaning that an atmospheric bov probably isn't harming anything.
