View Full Version : Duramax vs VIS vs Origin

DriftingBrandon

I'm going to need a new body kit. I was looking at like a BN style or origin agressive type 1. Duramax is like $600 VIS is $750 and origin is $900. What do you think would be the best bang for your buck?

Self esteem can be a great thing.

Therefore.... do hideous things to your car that make it objectively worse in multiple ways and better in none?

For fucks sake, even if you pretend they're not hideous, they fit like shit and have obvious blemishes and waves and crap in their promotional pictures - and that's probably the nicest one they ever made.

For 500 bucks you could buy a few sets of brand new tires (tires of the type that don't slip or go sideways like the tires of a retard). you could buy a bunch of fresh high quality suspension bits or chassis braces or something. You could get a medium-reasonable quality you-prep paintjob or some other bodywork. Or you could get like 14 tanks of gas, and drive your car. You could buy a whole "missile" and save it. That's a lot of money to put into a disgusting pointless product like that.

Yes please. Agreed. Their photos were wavy as fuck lol. The only good thing VIS makes is their OEM replacement stuff and DMAX Rep hoods, but now DMAX is back in the US.

If anything, get some Version Select

Origin fits the best out of those three but still doesn't fit perfect. But out of those three, Origin is your best choice.

The Duramax(duraflex bruh) stuff not only fits like shit but its a pain in the ass to paint. I turn it away. Being that its heavy as shit and flexes so much it often fucks up a nice paint job. If your going to spend some money to build a nice(nice is very subjective on this forum) car, spend money on decent product. Your painter will appreciate it also.

Sad but true. He bought the car from me like 2 weeks ago. Probably also has a better first 240sx than all of us.

Besides some tiny door dings and shitty paint, body is immaculate, all type-x aero is properly fitted with tail lights spliced in, and interior is also in perfect condition with a/c. All it needs is paint!

Don't understand whats not to like about type-x on a hatch, its one of maybe 4-5 kits that actually look good. All the other kits are gonna cost more than hes selling the type-x for and its going to be frp.

If it's a race car build then I wouldn't be worried too much about aesthetics. A cheap kit would be piecing one together from the classified section. Sure you may want to get wide fenders and slap on some 18x10.5 wheels on it but it wouldn't help performance much. (other than the contact patch/aerodynamics which is negligible if you aren't pro)

I would suggest working on the suspension and drivetrain first, for drift or grip it doesn't matter that is always a good place to start. What's the point of looking cool if you're slow or your car doesn't handle correctly?

I really don't care much about this thread lol but one thing I did read was someone said the duraflex kit is heavy, fits like shit, and is hard to paint. I purchased the type u kit from extreme dimensions and the kit is super light, required no sanding or body work on the kit, and it painted just fine. Only the overs needing a little trimming at the bottom of the wheel well section. Now I'm not one who has had name brand quality kits before, nor am I one to spend that kind of money on fiberglass parts. I'm a cheap ass lol

This shit needs to die off.

Don't understand why you bought my car if your just gonna slap on overfenders? Main reason, people wanted my car was for the straight body, why didn't you just buy a shell?

Typical kids buying 240s nowadays. Whatever its your car, ruin it if you want to. (talking about the body)

It's wood grain hydro dipped. Someone doesn't like it? Sorry, I didn't do it for everyone else to like. No knockoff kit is going to fit like oem. Dmax kits are quality kits from what I understand, duraflex and vis aren't.

Well. Me keeping the type x is a waste. Going with Duraflex. 50/50mm fenders. Deep dish wheels. Cheap kit right. Means more performance. I have maybe 10k to put into and I'm fixing it up right. It's a race car build not a show car. Over the years and eventually I'll have a build thread. Maybe you be like, dang he knows what he's doing. Thanks for the advice. I'm a Hoonigan :D.

If I had 10k... I'd buy a nice car that could get me laid. Not a 240.

Rather basically trade my kit for other kit and fenders. Then work in what else needs to be fixed done. It isnt going to be finished in a month. Maybe 3 years. Enough with the arguments.

I purchased the type u kit from extreme dimensions and the kit is super light, required no sanding or body work on the kit, and it painted just fine.

Type U...

(sigh)

its bad enough hearing people say "Type X," now we have "Type U."

For 10k, you could buy a 240 that would get you laid, if you so desired.

Sounds like OP has one, and is rapidly turning it into pussy repellent.

why hate on him? This thread has gotten so far off topic.. He didnt ask you to bash on him. Why not take a moment to explain a simple reason of why you would or wouldnt? That would make alot more sense. If he doesnt like a type x kit, it makes him a shitty person? You're all a bunch of fanboys.. Not every hatch has to have a type x kit or else its gay.. I personally love the type x kit, but everyone is different.. Hop off his dick, if everyone loved the same shit, this "scene" would be nothing. Grow up, and make fun of someone who deserves it.

Glad to see that's the best you could come up with.. I mean hey, if picking on people on the Internet makes you feel better, that's pretty lame dude. this isnt a Honda forum, don't make it one.

No, getting a nice type x car and ruining it because he only bought it to be cool, not because he likes the car, makes him a shitty person, from the point of view of those of us who actually like cars.

I, and others, pointed out some of the problems. He pushed back. If you don't accept help, ridicule is all that'll be left for you. Even the ridicule he's getting is absolutely helpful, if he'd pay some attention.

He's getting ridiculed for good reasons - there's lots of people who are unfairly attacked online, but he sure doesn't look to be one.

I think he may be a troll, he's too perfect a caricature - but there's the other guy claiming to have sold him the car...

I don't really care about the excuses. Just sucks to see fellow schassis owners bash someone over a question. In the end, it's his car, his time, his money... whether you love it or hate it.. lol. So why waste your time. Maybe he's new and needed some guidance, but no one offered to help him out. Sad.

What the fuck? Try the ft86club forums. I got fucking BANNED for defending a shit-talking fanboi in my own FS thread. He thought my God damn TE37RTs were overpriced @ $2300 w/Yokohama S.Drives.

My point? Zilvia retains people because the pussies are weeded out. If you resign to the belief that everyone is a 'hater' then you stop posting and ruin your s-chassis offline. You're allowed to talk shit here and (since our community consists of mostly dudes) that's what dudes do. They don't jack each other off all over the forum by handing out nothing but praise for your shitty choices. Zilvia is not the FL of forums. Out of all the cars I've owned and the forums I've been on, this is the most 'normal'.

Making your car obnoxiously shitty is doing it wrong. Buying cheap, ill-fitting shit is doing it wrong.

Missing the point. No shit talking was need to simply explain to someone why or why not it were a good/shitty brand, that's all I'm saying. No one knew if he were new to this or not, but if he were why not be nice about it? It's kinda simple. Lol

A bunch of people gave him perfect explanations and if that isn't good enough, is google so hard a 15-16 year old kid can't use it? Do new people have to be spoon fed every time they join this forum? Were you?

I have given him enough guidance to start out and it seems all this kid cares about is looking "cool".

This kid has made one after another of these pointless threads, after 1-2 off them, it gets really old. Did you know about this before you responded to this thread? I'm guessing not.
