So... I did this tonight...7979079791
Pleasee someone tell me this is fixable? I'll most likely need a rocker panel off another car right? I have a body kit in the mail so skirts could help, if I have something straight to mount to. Any advise helps, this is my baby and I just got the 1j running right. Give me your input on how fixable this is

About the only options i can think of:

1.Dent puller

2.Drill holes from the inside and bang out dents

3.Cut from another car and weld piece

I will take it to a professional shop and get a legit opinion and not ask a bunch of other people who dont know body work, if its fixable or not.

Everything is fixable, the real question is if its worth fixing?????

Agree with the above post.take it to a body shop you trust and get a quote..then once you find out then decide if it's better to either 1.fix it or 2.buy another shell for cheap and transfer everything..that might be cheaper but more labor intensive.

That tube(rocker panel, door sill) under your door is your framerail. The rails under the car are just crushbars for energy dissipation in a crash. That is why the jack points on the pinch welds are along that tube.

I am willing to bet that the RLCA didn't take all of the hit and transferred it into the sub-frame.

Congrats you just totaled your first car.

By the looks of the picture Surffer, you were probably NOT supposed to be drifting in an industrial (or equivalent) parking lot (the entrance ramp to the Warehouse Bay doors is the giveaway here). Tough luck!

As far as the least of your worries are concerned, you have at MINIMUM one bent arm in the rear.

Congrats you just totaled your first car.

Pretty much......

Contradictory statements are contradictory...............

This is one of the MANY reasons (if not the MAIN reason) why we have NO clean S-chassis anymore unfortunately :(

You know, 5~10 years ago this is the sort of thing i used to love to see and laugh at. Got a big kick out of the new guy banging up his precious car that mom and dad would most likely have to foot the bill for. Now I can't help but cringe at the thought of ANOTHER throw-away 240 just because someone can't keep their car away from large immovable objects for some reason.

Yes, it can be fixed, and since it was done in such moronic fashion, it's best not to involve the insurance agencies. (they'd just total it anyway) So grab some kneepads and get to work trying to pay off the repair bills as there's a LOT of work to do be done. Or, you can part it out like all the other try-hard chumps out there and sell/scrap the shell and try to find yourself a Civic. If you act quick enough, you may be able to throw enough stickers on it to make it to the new fast & furious movie premier at your local AMC.

Cock-suckin Florida man... you guys are really pissing me off.

I read about half of the replies.

Question is and still is,
#1 does the car still drive right now?
#1A Does is shake vigorously at any point?

#2 is the frame rail underneath displaced at all?
#2A is there separation from the middle rail to the rear rail? (Where the rear enters the center portion)

#3 are you prepared to do some heavy cutting of the outer body to get a solid pull on that part of the body in front of the wheel? (depending on the rail damage)

Given the extent of the damage it does look like you may have gone beyond repair for the everyday joe. But if you're willing to, you can cut the outer shell of the body and pull the "dent" out, problem is, you'll never get that sheet metal straight again unless you cut out that portion and have a new section welded in.

That's not the core structure of the car. The side rail he crushed is. Frame is fucked.

See I can't really see that. Didn't see it on my PC either. if that piece of the rail is pinched, edged, bent, then there's no reason to continue on. Part it out and scrap the body for as much cash as you can.

Especially since the damn fuel lines run along that side of the rail, that's extremely sketchy. And a high priced learning mistake

It's funny how u guys see a wrecked 240 and think I'm some Honda boy that decided I wanna buy a 240 and be a kool drifter. Bet you think I welded my diff and put a exhaust on my Ka so I can get sidewayz when it rains.. No.. I've had this car for a while, I put just as much blood sweat and tears into my build as any of you if not more. No mommy and daddy didn't go pay a shop so I can have a kool car, and no I didn't buy someone else's half ass build. I put a lot of work into my swap and all you guys bashing me for drifting my car, that's what I built it for, I was hoping not to damage it to this extent, but oh well mistakes happen, I'll fix it and move on. I posted this on here wanting some advise from someone who has been in my position before, but I just got a lot of losers that wanna jump the gun and bash every one on the forum. When I said this car is my baby it wasn't because I bought a cool car and want to show off to my friends. It's because I put a lot of work getting it where I wanted and it was disheartening to see this damage. Ohh well guess I'll get it pulled and a new rocker welded in. Thankyou to anyone that actually tried to help. To the rest of you, screw off your acting like mustang guys.

Regardless of what you think or getting your panties in a wad, the issue still lies in the fact you were probably doing something illegal and stupid (drifting in an industrial parking lot) with lots of things to hit.

You are in Florida, and I am sure there are sanctioned drift events all year round as cold weather is NOT an issue. No excuse to not take to to the "track" or sanctioned parking lot as typically there are MUCH fewer things to hit.

Being put-on-blast for doing something illegal and stupid is what the masses SHOULD be doing to rectify such dubious behaviour! It's analogous to watching something steal someones wheels and gets the cops called on them and gets all pissed off for getting "rated" out...........Just foolish and no one should be sugar coating the idea of your ignorance. Also, calling people out on such ignorance also allows the chassis to be preserved since if more and more people decided to take it to the track, we wouldn't have Stand Nation and hundreds if not THOUSANDS of written of S-chassis'!!

Either way, chassis is a write off and good luck with figuring things out.........

Surffer227
01-03-2015, 09:02 AM
Honestly I would be at track events if available but our only local track got shut down by the city cause they wanted the land for something. And our closest track is a hour + drive and $75 to drift on a road corse. Drifting in south Florida is dead and local police and warehouse owners kinda turn a blind eye to what we do. Industrial parking lots are the only way to keep us off the streets and keep drifting here. I understand this is illegal and don't blame anyone else for my mistake, trust me I'm not just gonna throw the chassis away. I know I'm in the wrong I just don't wanna be flamed like some wannabe fanboy

joeapple8
01-03-2015, 09:03 AM
You have a 1JZ in your car and you cant afford a track day?

Anyway, if you did put a lot of wrench time, swapping everything over to the new chassis wouldn't be much of a pain for you. I know cause I've had to do it twice. Get off Zilvia, quit seeking a 2nd opinion when you know its fucked, find a shell and keep wrenching, sitting here asking not to get flamed will only get you flamed.

RalliartRsX
01-03-2015, 09:08 AM
You have a 1JZ in your car and you cant afford a track day?

My point exactly!

Surffer227, 1 hour drive and $75 an event is MUCH cheaper and safer than totalling a car in a warehouse parking lot. Think about how much MORE than $75 you have to spend now getting things back in order in addition to the time spent?? Time is money and that time you could be using "drifting" ......

Surffer227, have you taken it to a body shop as of yet?? I agree with S14B as the chassis is probably written off (and simply costs too much $$$ to restore to OEM standard. It can be done, but I am seeing a minimal of several hundred to a few thousands on a safe bet! A S13 chassis is worth a few hundred at most!)

Surffer227
01-03-2015, 09:10 AM
I got a quote for about $700 an expensive mistake but not enough for me to total my car

RalliartRsX
01-03-2015, 09:13 AM
Are they fairly reputable and have you seen their work? Also, did they quote you just by simply looking at it and not delving into the frame and all?? because if so, I can almost promise that price is going to inflate rather quickly once they take the body panels off and start seeing more and more damage!

joeapple8
01-03-2015, 09:18 AM

Ohh and yes I was drifting... No I'm not a dumbass that can't handle my car, I just got nervous and let off instead of powering through.

If you are getting nervous while trying to drift or drifting you should not be attempting to drift.

If you are drifting on the street and getting nervous you are a potential hazard to others. Oh ya and that is technically illegal which means go to a track or private property to attempt these kinds of things.

Oh and if you can't afford to drive your car possibly total it and get another one you should not be trying to learn this kind of stuff.

Oh and if someone is fixing that car for $700 I would not trust it ever being straight again. Judging form the pics you have unibody structural damage which means frame pull time. Then cut metal and weld unless you are a fan of several pounds of bondo . That is around $1500 plus worth of damage. IMO

P.S. You can call people dicks here but we are mainly pointing out the truth which you probably do not want to hear.
