Freshly rebuilt redtop sr20, during initial start/break in the machine shop said let run for 20 mins at about 10 mins in it started making a whining noise from inside the timing cover. It sounds like from the intake cam side of the engine. Whining sounds like what a power steering pump would sound like if it was going bad. Has anyone ever experienced the same? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hmmm only thing I can think of is the cam caps little to tight......

This is off topic but what pistons are you running?
Can you do a leak down and let me know how your ring leakage is
Mines 100% on all 4 on fresh rebuild, I'd like to see how yours is

She you say rebuild is this like new piston rings and bearings or just a headgasket job?whats the oil pressure look like? And I'd pop the valve cover real quick and see if there's any obious.
