As we all know, a few additional things are required to get the car fully registered in CA if you bought it out of state.

Besides getting the car smogged (which I have done), you also need a VIN verification. I guess this is where they check under your hood for an emissions label to see if your car complies with CA smog laws out of the factory. Obviously it does, as it's a 1997 240sx and they all came with those emissions labels from the factory.

The problem is, that my car doesn't have the factory hood on it, and the hood that's on the car doesn't have the emissions label.

Does anyone know if we can buy the emissions label from a dealer or from anyone? Or would anyone let me borrow there's? lol

I just don't understand WHY it has to have an emissions label if they know that every 1997 240sx that was produced for the US already meets SMOG regulations for CA. It's not like 240s imported to Ohio were any special than the ones imported to CA.

What if someone crashes their car and has to buy a new hood for their car? They can't buy the damn label?

Someone please help me out with this. I've already gone through a lot to get it shipped, transferred, and smogged. I just need this emissions label which is the last thing so I can get it fully registered.

Thanks,
Arty

Figured it out. Moron DMV employee told me I couldn't buy it brand new from the dealership, but after a few calls, I went ahead and ordered the CA emissions label.

Figured I won't need the Federal one?

LOCK THREAD PLEASE

Purchased label from CourtesyParts.com...

To my knowledge, it was the last one in the country that any dealership had. Numerous people have hit me up asking where I got it from and I told them Courtesy Parts, but they no longer have it.

Good luck and sorry :/
