well, im cruisin down highwya 43 on the way home and i decide to see if the Rev/Speed Meter did its job and killed the speed governer. so im climin up to about 100-105 and the car just stops accelerating, im like, ok, that was gay as aids, so i back off and try it again, now this time it wont accelerate at all and just stays at a constant speed. so i push the clutch and rev the motor and it boggs the whole way to about 4k. then i let the clutch out and nothing, cruisin at 45mph. then boom, it happens. the car shuts down. so i pull her off and i see smoke coming from the hood. pop the hood and the exh. manni is glowing red ( i thought that looked kinda cool lol) and the coolent is boiling and the vent toob from the valve cover is smokin away. i push the car back to get it father away from the driving land and look ahead and theres a nice puddle of oil on the ground.
so i think i blew my motor :( now i have to put the DOHC Turboed motor in :) but i still need an I/C and a wiring harness :( but i was really looking forward to getting some coil-overs :( o well, ya win some ya loose some :/

Mmm a blessing and a curse. Was that the first time youve tried to take it to the governer?

ya think?
i'm betting blown HG, rod thru block or melted pistons. Or a combination thereof.
Also, I could a spend a few minutes nitpicking your terrible spelling, but i don't suppose i will. Webster's owns you.

hehe that sucks...dont know how you managed to do that considering my pos made it up there at least 3 times...maybe you didnt have enough coolant or something, sounds like you blew a hg if there was smoke and shit...bummer

All that smoke in the valve cover breather means you probably blew some valve seals. Oil on the ground means you either put a hole in the block (which would have likely been accompanied by a loud **BANG**, and a CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK...... sound), or you may have blow a front or rear main seal. If it was the head gasket you will have coolant in your oil, and vice versa.
I'm thinking you hit a fuel cut, the engine went lean, and detonated. Blowing your valve seals, and possibly your head gasket.
Curious where the puddle oil came from...

There you go folks, Ka's now have a formal max speed of 105mph.

my ka went to the 118 mark 3 or 4 times
then i blew it up in an unrelated incident

Same here, my went to 115 or so before it bogs down. I blew mine by doing donuts for 30min straight, letting g forces pin the oil to one side of the block leaving my poor bearings to burn up and die, After it made my week old rear tires bald, it spun a rod. I would not normally abuse the motor to that extreme, but my sr was sitting in th garage so I was trying to kill the motor, plus I drank almost a 12pk of Icehouse, so I'm sure that played a roll. Over all, it was fun as hell, and would recomend it to anyone before swapping out the motors. Its your last ka run, rag that shit out to the fullest and beond.

Umm I don't think so.. If the ecu cut fuel, how would he detonate? It's not like the ecu decreases fuel at that speed; it cuts off the injectors, completely and immediately. Therefore there is no fuel to combust at all.
In essence, what you're saying is that if you pull your fuel pump fuse and turn over the motor, you're detonating it.

Um.. maybe I should have explained my rationale.
When you hit a fuel cut, it cuts the injectors, and the spark so that you can't go lean. don't forget that Air with a small amount of residual fuel is still combustable. If his car was as hot as he says it was (red hot clowing header AFTER he had cut it off, and had time to look under the hood), then thee combustion chamber may have been hot enough to ignite residual compresses fuel and air which would burn MUCH hotter than a regular air fuel mixture. This is still detonation.
Unlikely, but as hot as he says the engine was, not impossible.

First off, it takes a lot more then a small amount of residual fuel to provoke combustion. Injectors quit spraying immediately at cut-off, leaving an insignificant amount of airborne fuel molecules in the cylinder. Secondly, considering the motor is still turning over when it hits fuel cut, the first following stroke will expel nearly all residual fuel that can even be remotely considered to cause combustion. At this point, the air/fuel mixture would be so high, combustion is impossible. Mind you, this is all a fraction of a second after fuel cut.
