Does anyone know how to check a tps sensor with a multimeter. I seen a few videos on YouTube but they still leave me with questions. Should I use dc ac voltage or current? Resistance or capacitence? What numbers should I expect. What plugs and leads should I be using?.I don't have much experience with a multimeter or with electrical on a engine. If anyone has done this before or knows how to, let me know.

Your battery supplies direct current (DC). You are measuring resistance of the sensor.
You should read up on some basic electronics and it would really help you. There are plenty of threads that describe how to test the TPS sensor, just keep searching. I would advise googling "how to use a multimeter" to understand which settings you should work with and what the numbers mean.
Get a consult II cable from ebay. Hook it up to your car. Here is what it looks like when you are troubleshooting:

If you plan on modifying this car, you should know how to use a mulitmeter and understand the basics.

With the sensor disconnected, you measure the resistance with meter set to ohms. With sensor connected and ignition switch ON, you measure DC voltage.

We'll I know the basics in using a multeter. I'm just not sure where to check for voltage and where to check for resistance. Or where in the sensor do I get the voltage or resistance from and what numbers do expect.
I know using a multimeter can be dangerous when dealing with electricity but thats the reason I'm asking before I go an attempt it.
Thanks for the help so far guys.
