What is the definition of a Gray Import (market) Vehicle? Just curious if other peoples opinion matches mine.

something imported thats newer than 25 years old. Its black & white that the US won't allow those cars to be here. If someone is trying to sell one that is already here it goes against the laws stating that they shouldn't be here. How it was imported & 'registered and/or insured' is a mystery, but its here and (Gray market).

Small questions thread. This doesn't need its own thread when you could've easily googled the answer.
Haha, I know what a gray market vehicle is. I was looking for opinions of other members.

well he's trying to sell his Skyline & I'm sure someone PM'd him or tried to call him out by saying it was gray market. From what i saw in his thread everything was done on the UP & UP.
If its legal i don't see the need to worry.

i saw someone try to use the 'gray market' line on a person trying to sell a 30 y/o car.
People are idiots dude. Those who could actually afford shit don't say shit like, 'if only you were closer'. If someone wants it, they'll do whatever they have to, to get it. If someone is genuinely in the market for a Skyline they'll know enough about it to know whats 'gray market' and whats not.
Every car is gray market until proven otherwise I guess. Not like I have a thread detailing months of waiting and almost every step I went through.

For me, it's a car that's here, that really shouldn't be here. If it wasn't imported legally, it's a car that will forever have a noose (seizure) around it's neck.
Currently with the legal importation of certain makes/models, existing grey market cars are worthless IMO, you can generally import these cars for affordable prices now. So purchasing a grey market car without the intent to use it as a parts car, or strictly as an off-road vehicle, is a huge waste of time if you ask me.

"Grey import vehicles are new or used motor vehicles and motorcycles legally imported from another country through channels other than the maker's official distribution system. The synonymous term parallel import is sometimes substituted"
California and some other states refer to them as "direct imports".

Well actually now that there are more and more skylines enterign legally it will actually make it easier to drive a grey market vehicle.. I assume the feds wont be as active as they were in the past.
I dont see the value of grey markets diminishing but infact increasing a bit.

Technically federally legal skylines wouod be grey market, and illegally imported ones would be considered black market. Grey market does not mean the car is illegal, it actually means the car was imported legally through a channel other than the manufacturer.
The OP's car is in fact grey market, but thats actually a good thing.

I predict the exact opposite.
