IF there already is one i cant find it

Looking to do some metal work on my newly acquired 180. Inspiration, ideas and techniques would be good to see...

Heres the kind of thing im thinking of, this is a quick mock up to get ideas of the dimensions of the sheet i need to cut:

obviously i cut the template too short, and il probably be mounting higher up but i just wanted an idea of where to start, if anyone has any pics, tips or ideas feel free

Those last two are well done. See how the flare itself isn't just flat, it's slightly convex? The little lip on the outer edge is key too.

Just had a quick look through that, he did some supreme work with those arches, if mine weren't rusty i would be seriously considering trying that.

I know what your saying about the drop down lip but i saw a white 15, i cant find the pic now, but it had sharp edged flares, looked so fucking good.

If anyonw knows the onw i mean, its japanese and was on white concave cr kai, 18 or arguably 19"

Flares look weird and out of place on any car made after 1988, no matter how properly they are made.

I would give anything to have stock unmolested fenders again. Except a lot of money.

i agree to a degree, but with arches as rotten as mine its a option looking very appealing, i can fit retarded sized wheels with the robustness of metal not fibreglass

also if executed well they do look amazing imo

I'm doing similar but on a four door. Made a template then a jig out of timber. If you make your template, then add 10mm onto the lip, put it in a jig with the 10mm hanging out to bash it down 90degrees, then take it out of the jig and bash it all the way over and it forms the flare for you.

See I was going to post up those exact overs! That makes way more sense than round flares on a car design wise. The round flares interrupt the body line. The boxy ones match the whole body. The paint and other stuff is nicer on the grey car though. The craftsmanship on it is top notch for sure. I just think he went the wrong direction. Makes the car look like it's trying to hard.

Its like the E30's. They are boxy. Round flares would look wack on it.

I imagine much time and effort is invested in to fitting and blending the added on flare.

nate mate, i like the idea but i dont know if it would suit my car too well, although they do look pretty good on that impreza

For me im thinking more along the lines of the moccomans 14 or that white 15

Il be using thicker sheet metal to do the flares so they will stand up to any abuse (delamming etc)

also would like to see that jig for the flares andrew

That just looks like a shelf glued to the fender.

lolol.. I like the fronts the rear, althoyugh it looks pretty I hate because its not drivable at all like that.. I already hate bagged cars that claim stance.. and when they arent even moveable it's even worse.

Thanks buddy!
I ordered factory metal fenders and had the shop weld it over the original ones spacing them out like overfenders, and then had them weld another flare over the widened body.
most of the work was done by Rainier Ramolette.

That's funny. Exactly what I was thinking of doing. I can't find brand new quarters for the E46 M3 though. Where did you order from and how much did they run? I see you shaved the gas flap?

yEAH DOING A SPARCO GAS CAP
OPPS, caps.
Called bmw directly and they found one in cali and one in CT,
also found a pair in the junk yard googling online and they wanted more then the brand new BMW factory ones...lololol...
rip off though cost me $1900 for the pair shipped.

I am still trying to figure out how much to flare my sideskirts and rear bumper out and how mcuh gt style carbon fiber aero to add to it to make it all blend in...
Rai is so busy with FD and with his new Rays Fatory product line release that he has almost no time to help me with it...

I guess it's a similar price to hi end widebody overfenders.

In the end i am hoping to partner with Rai and mass produce or at least make a mold of the kit so we can sell them!

EDIT:I think you could modify FC or some S13 over fenders to fit on the E46 since its more squarish.

It's looking good, interested to see the finished result with the skirts and bumpers. Quality work though!

THANKS!
Me too, I am taking it outta the current shop due to attempted ripoff and price inflation lol..
but Rai will continue to work on it!
