I've been looking around for a decent 240sx to pick up to start working on. This came up and I started reading on it. The guy says he used GumOut fuel injector cleaner now the car won't run. Any idea what that would be? I'm still in the process of looking for any sort of 240sx to pick up but I figured if this was a simple fix, it would be a decent deal.

Thanks for your help!

Some of those fuel injector cleaners will form a gel if they are mixed with other chemicals when suspended in ethanol fuel. But I still don't buy the story. The only way a fuel system should be cleaned is with one of those specialty devices that you run through the car while it's running (takes up to an hour). This guy should have just replaced the filter and flushed the rail if he wanted a diy fix... is the car worth $800? Yes. Would it be worth your time to fix and pay to have it painted and get a whole new interior I do not know.

If you have about $8,000+ ready to get that car in an optimal running state (because I'm quite sure there is many hidden troubles from the looks of it), then do it.

If not, then steer far away from it and search for another.

240sx are the culprits of financial pitfalls man. It will make or break you, bring about potential marriage divorce, leave you homeless and make you lose touch with all of reality.

Agreed. At least, not at that price. It's essentially a rolling shell. Ugh... and it's local... Offer him $800 and go from there. I wouldn't do it for any more than $1000. Then tow that shit straight to Tay and have him either properly dianose it or have him drop in the engine of your choice.
